Activate first, then call 866-408-4065. The people at that number above have magic powers.
I'd like to do this, but I'm almost afraid of AA so early on. Does Barclay's ever check any other CRA besides TU? After getting a denial, then approval on recon, would I possibly be pushing my luck? I'm tempted to just wait six months, then call the magic number to request a CLI.

I was declined on October 9th for a BJ's Barclays card due to:
-Low Number of Satisfactory Accounts
-Low Income (I guess I don't understand where the cutoff for that is)
-High Overall Utilization (I pulled the trigger at the wrong time with 40% utilization)
I called back (1-800-408-4064) today with 0% utilization and spoke with a rep. She asked me some questions, pulled a report, came back and asked my why I had a short file. I was approved for $500.
Thanks again CB.

The rep told me that the system auto denies if there is and neq info on report.
Asked me a few question then asked how much the computer was for.
Told me to go back to the apple page and hit the status button and continue with the check out.

SWEET!!!I was approved via recon on Friday for a $3500 Apple Visa. Instantly denied with a 718 TU score and no baddies, no inquiries...reasons were "Average Age of Accounts" and some other reason. Called the number in this thread and plead my case...APPROVED!

I applied DH for 3 cards, bank atlantic, priceline and i dont remember the last one, but i end up getting only 2 barclay pull in TU.
Got denied for all these 3 cards
rejection due to: insufficient credit history, low access credit and low secured debt obligations.
Her report is clean and She has been an AU for my closed HSBC (dropped from 5k to $300 limit) and Chase ($6k) for more than 4 years. She has 8.5k (signature) and 7k limit from citi, $750 hsbc 2% cash back, $750 hooters (will close soon, start to charge $4 monthly fee).
It seems that only Citi is willing to give her credit.
Going to call to get reconsideration....
what do you think the chance?

I guess it worth the hit to get 1500 CL! I can B the Tu away and live with the EX for 24 months.

Not if you get another HARD INQUIRY or twoAlways worth calling for a recon! You were already denied, you have nothing left to lose
(unintended consequences)

it is especially heartwarming to see all the people who have gotten a barclays card based on recon who really needed a good, no fee, card to help them rebuild. Perhaps someone who claims to have never had credit problems can afford to pass buy the opportunity to get a new card, but many of us cannot.
I say congrats to all who have succeeded and sic semper tyrannis to those that do not understand.

10 days is denied in many casesI applied for the Barnes & Noble card online and got a 10 day message rather than an outright denial. Is the 10 day as good as a denial? Or is there a chance I might get something?
does anyone know?

people who have a grasp of their credit situation understand that inquiries that lead to value added credit products are well worth it. if there is an unnatural fear of inquiries then professional help should be sought.

thank you Hegemony.
I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish any of the things I have done in the last few months without the help of CB members.
14 baddies removed 2 new credit cards. Opened a 2nd bank account strictly for bills! (no more OD fees)
