i was denied on the app 11/30/09 and did a recon the next day and they did a second pull on EX and approved me for 1500 for the apple card.
odd thing the inq on tu was b* the next day i mean gone but i have older inq thats still there. has anyone had that happen?
i only use cct
7 inq to go

Noticed today that there was a INQ from EX from BARCLAYS BANK DELAWARE. Other TU inquiry BRCLYSBANKDE is still there too.

Well now I noticed they pulled another TU report on the same day as EX. So now I have two TU pulls and one EX pull from BARCLAYS....

The magic number comes through again!!!!

I just called Barclays again to request a CLI after about 4-1/2 months of opening the account. They asked me the usual questions about income, profession, and what I use the card for, and why I want the additional limit, and how much of an additional limit I'd like to have. (I said an additional $1,000 would be great, but $500 would work).

She checked my report, but I don't know yet if it was hard or what CB they used. She said "I see you've worked hard at rebuilding your credit since your bankruptcy, and we like to see that." She asked me why I filed BK.

She said that I'm using the card exactly the way they like to see and that I have a strong payment history with them. She then granted me the $1,000 I asked for.

Another +1 baby!

Apped for a Priceline/Barclays card last night (I book thru priceline alot)
and got the 10 day message.

Called the magic 408 number. Spoke to a rep and basically said
that I've done my time in subprime hell and I was looking to
start a relationship with a better bank.. ie. Barclays.

He asked a few questions (employment, income, job title), put me
on hold for a few minutes. When he returned he mentioned my
PAID Collections SLs, but said they were paid and that I'd done well
managing my credit for the past year, so he approved me for $1500

$1500!!! :clapping:  :clapping: :clapping:

Thats my highest out-of-the-box approval yet.

Thanks for the suggestion to app for them.. GREAT CALL for me..

Could you guys tell what your typical UTLs were like at the time of recon on an average?

I have 50% UTL on my 750CL carnival seamiles/fun points card. I have 65% on my 1000 CL NFCU LOC.

0 bal on 350 FP and 200 Orchard and 250 spiegel. and 2500 on my 20000 BOA AU.

As evident, my UTL shoots up significantly if my AU a/c is not considered and looking at the transrisk score, Im inclined to believe that Juniper would discard AU a/cs in thier internal calculations while reviewing an account.

I am hoping for a CLI from 750 to 1000 or 1500. I am also planning on some apps with NFCU.

And thanks to to Mysticspirit for providing the recon numbers even if I dont get it seeing that its already helped many..:clapping:

For best results, I'd pay things down as much as possible for the best chances of a better CLI. I don't remember my UTIL when I apped for the card, but it is at about 15% now and is what they saw when they pulled EX for my CLI request yesterday.

In my case, my overall util is 4% ATM.

Most of my cards are zeroed. The few with balances are all < 10%.

The exception is my walmart card @ 60% because Walmart/GEMB credit
payments like old people screw, so last month's statement cut before they
actually applied the payment zeroing that balance.. <_<

Dont forget, the lender has the account history right in front of them.
If you are apping for a CLI, lowering your util the month before the app
might not help much if you've been running high util all year.

I mention that because I think thats why I finally started breaking out
of toy limit hell. I ran util high most of last year, then dropped it before
apping for CLIs. Very little good came of that.. On the other hand, my
credit is all aging past 12+ months now, so Im sure that helped a bit..

I applied for Princess Cruise Visa, and was sent a decline... after reading this I called the recon, and was APPROVED! $1,000.00.... not much, but better than nothing!

Thanks so much for all of your help and advice.. I am so stoked right now :-)

Kinda similar profile and history I should say. I was 550s when I started december 08 and am in 650s now and I was running high UTLs up until now. I have one CC CO and its CA collecting on it on all three but no other baddies (hopefully). My credit is just about aging past the 12 months too. For the most part.

I was hoping for even a small CLI say 250(to round it up to 1000CL), and wanted to try now cause I am thinking this number wont last forever.
But I think I will wait. Cause I am aiming for come good credits with NFCU(the triad, or the triple.. I think) and am not really worried about Juniper CL right now. I will wait for when the time is ripe...so I dont have to worry about this number and can confidently expect a CLI.

I called today (866-408-4064) and got a CLI on my Carnival card as well! They bumped me 1k from 2500 to 3500. She did say it would be a hard pull but I don't know which they pulled for me yet but I do know it wasn't EX. Probably TU which is what they pulled originally. Very nice lady asked about HHI, my balances on other cards (currently under 20% util overall), and what I use the card for. I told her I use it for all daily charges and PIF every month and I like to get the rewards. I actually asked for 1500 but I figured that was a stretch on a 2500 limit card so I was happy with the 1k they gave me.

Also, for those that have the Carnival card, they are changing from "SeaMiles" to "FunPoints" and sending out new cards due to this change. It appears that Barclay's is splitting it's relationship with SeaMiles and going with their own point system. As far as I can tell, this is a GOOD change because you can now purchase your cruise anywhere and apply your "points" to a statement credit. I hated the old way of having to buy thru SeaMiles to get a small discount on a heavily inflated cruise price when you could just book it for far cheaper anywhere else.

Thanks Jaymes for the update in this thread, I wouldn't have called them otherwise!

Declined for the Barnes and Noble card....."excessive applications" said they pulled TU

Called for Recon today and they weren't even nice about it.....said they "couldn't approve" because of the "excessive inquiries..."

I've got TWO TU Inquiries.....44% Util tho.....wonder if THAT was the REAL reason....

When do you plan to bring your balances down?

Do you know for a fact that they pulled ONLY TU?

If you get down below 30% and reapply in 90 days, you'd probably stand a decent chance on recon.

Has anybody had anything positive come from a recon due to recent bankruptcy? I applied for the itunes visa and was denied for having too recent of delinqency/bankruptcy. I assumed it was because my bankruptcy was over September 21st and figured I should just reapply sometime next year...but didn't know if anybody has gotten a recon at all with this reason?

Based on other posts above, it seems that Barclays wants people to begin rebuilding before they'll offer a credit product. I'd look the the usual starting companies (Cap1 or a secured card with a CU) and work with that for several months. Then apply to Barclays and go through the recon process.

Best of luck to you.

I think this is the right of it. When I reconned, the rep mentioned my
Student loan charge offs (PAID 02/08), then said, "But you've shown
good management of all your existing credit, so I can approve you for
$1500".

Thats a near verbatim quote. My accounts are all 1 to 16 months old.

I had 2 INQs on my TU when they pulled...

Not so sure I agree about their rebuilding program. I got the Sea Miles on recon. 2 CAs on TU and only my 1 month old Macy's with a whopping $100 CL showing as revolving credit. I have a good, long history with auto loans so maybe that's what got me in. Either way, I only got a $250 CL, but after years with nothing but auto loans, I'll take it!

Jaymes, they only pulled TU...they told me that AND I confirmed it on my reports....

as for the Util, that is already down considerably....that's just the way it goes, I guess.....I have many open lines with good CLs so it's no big deal....

So now that I can see new reports I can confirm they hard pulled TU but oddly they soft pulled EX as well. I do know from previous conversations with Barclay's that one of the biggest things to them is utilization. When I apped originally they told me on recon they want to see 20% or lower.

Thanks for the info, Tripat. That's really good to know. I think I'm going to wait until summer for another CLI request. I have 1 CA scheduled to fall off in July and August (actually, the CA misreported the DOFD in my favor by one year, but I'm certainly not bringing it to their attention, LOL). I'd like Barclays to bring my limit up to $4900, because at $5K this card becomes a signature card and I really need limits to report.

Again, congrats on your CLI.

Just wondering, does Barclays report the new CL after a CLI immediately? Irrespective of their statement and reporting dates?

They did to me the first time.

Me too. Initially was $500 and got CLI'd to $1500 last week when I activated. It is still showing $500.
