Anyway, they offered to take 2k form the US Air MC, and give me the Spirit Air MC with a 2k limit. They said I don't have enough of a payment hx with them to get a new additional card with its own limit. Do you think this is worth it, or should I just forget it?

I guess it depends how much you fly on US as opposed to Spirit. If you want the points on both airlines, then you might think about it. Otherwise, I'd probably just leave it alone. The number you called is for the credit analysts, and I think they usually have a good handle on policy and what can and can't be done. Plus, there are probably notes of the conversation in the system that they will almost assuredly look at.

Awesome news! How long did you had the HSBC card? Once I get my credit cleaned up more, Juni is one of the first places I hope to establish a relationship.

About 8 months. I'm not thrilled with HSBC. I hope to get a CLI and transfer to another HSBC card at 18 months, but if they don't start showing me some love, they're toast.

As of this morning, the new account is reporting to EX, but not EQ or TU. Barclays apparently reports fast.

I applied for the ameriprise elite with a 789 score, however I applied for the Virgin America card right afterward and got denied for "exesssive apps".

I had no idea that both cards are issued through Barclay.

Does anyone know if they will reconsider my Virgin card app?

If not, has anyone known Virgin / Barclay to remove from the inquiry report?

As of now, I have two inquires from Barclay and its killin me!~!!!!

Help please

Barclays saves the day...

Called in to the numbers above, got a gentlemen who actually spoke great English. Explained my credit details with him, went from a denial to a $2500 credit line. After Orchard bank of 1 year at $750 and Cap one at $750 wouldnt approve an increase, Barclays came through with a good one. My highest Cash line so far, and I'll remember that Barclays gave me a shot at a good line and not let them down. It pays to call for a reconsideration!

yeppurs...they have long been noted for reporting before the piece o'plastic has arrived...and they tend to show up first on EX and the other two within a few days afterwards.

No luck from me thanks to my bankrtupcy, even tho it was back in 2002 and since I haven't "re-stablished myself" even tho I told him that's what I was trying to do. Mumbles I should have called when CJ was reporting.. ah well.

I will have to wait a few months once my HSBC card starts reporting.

I called the first # and I was approved for a 3,500 CC. This is a low limit but I'm happy bec Chase just sent me a letter saying that they are closing my Old Wamu/Chase account and I have never been late on it. I'm sending them a letter for a reversal.

I just called for the hell of it, b/c my 2 cards with them are 5k, and after about 10 minutes of questions, they increased each card to 11.5, my TU fico (who they pull is only 699 maybe lower since my BK7 reappeared from 2001).

They asked alot of questions such as :

1) what do you want the CLI for (told them BT, b/c UW cannot process BT's)
2) what do you use your credit cards for (told them to get rewards)
3) asked me about some old closed cards (zions bank for 20k cancelled by credit grantor), that one was bc I was outside their servicing area when they accidentally issued me the card
4) they do look at large payments as a positive on all credit cards, but if you make large payments, be prepared to explain how you paid.
5) they take into account the ENTIRE HH income, not just yours....

Thats about it, they are a US call center, and have the power to override any online or CSR denial, but be prepared to have good answers. They like it when you have a BIG cushion between your credit limit and avl credit...at least that is what I inferred when she asked about my HELOC.

That's exactly what happened. EX first, then TU over the weekend and EQ yesterday. Still haven't gotten the card, but it's only been five days.

So I read this thread then decided what the heck, I'll call and see if I can get a recon on my denial from a little over two weeks ago and BINGO! Got myself a new Carnival SeaMiles card with a limit of $2500. Not a huge limit but it's better than the original denial right? We go on a lot of Carnival Cruises so this card will be a nice addition. By the way for anyone else considering, like the poster above, I called the first number listed early in the thread, had a short hold, then got an extremely nice CS rep who did the approval.

Wow! Finally I started a productive thread. I'm glad this has worked out well for so many people. I went into the process thinking I would end up with a denial and I was happy with the $2500, even though it's not my highest limit. I'll keep the number and in six months I'll call and ask for a CLI.

Same here, thank you once again to the original poster. This has made my week, now CRAPITAL one and HSBC will be going in the sock drawer, packs of gum and a half tank of gas is all they will get!

One more success. Denied for "too many inquiries." Called the 408 number above. The rep said the computer will auto-deny if you've had more than 3 inq in the last 60 days. She overrode it and approved me.

Same thing, was auto-denied because of 3 inquiries. Explained the inquiries, explained HHI, was granted $2500.

Card hasnt shown, but has shown up on my three CRA's. Got an email stating the partial card number. Cant wait to get the card, utilize it and pay it off. I love the fact that Barclays does not seem stingy and it looks to be the card that will grow with me, and give me the limit I deserve and need!

I am a new homeowner still attempting to clean my reports and get my FICO scores up, uP, UP. I have never previously had a credit card other than a jewelry store card many years ago. I have grown up anti-credit card but with purchasing a house that line of thinking was completely spun around. I was terrified to be a homeowner without a backup system in case something went wrong. My TU is clean, EQ has two baddies (medical and sprint) and my EX three baddies (medical x2 and sprint).

As my TU score is my greatest asset in my CRA portfolio right now I felt strongly that I needed a card that pulled exclusively TU. After reading this thread and another Barclay's/Ameriprise thread I had a strong urge to apply, which I acted on. I was declined for insufficient revolving credit. Who knew that my years of being anti-credit card would hurt me when I readjusted my thinking? I mean i know that now but not back then.

I was prepared and waited over the weekend to put a call in for a recon. I have to admit that it was this thread in particular that gave me hope. I spoke to a rep who said he would put it in to the investigators who handle this and would let me know in a few days. As I thought most of you guys had received instant news I was pretty defeated at that moment. Yesterday in my email box I received a statement notification for my Ameriprise Bank MasterCard. Getting a little excited I immediately called Ameriprise and asked for confirmation. I told the rep I was speaking with that I was confused as this was the first piece of material received regarding the account at all. She laughed and said that she wasnt sure why I was receiving a statement already but that yes I was approved. Holding my breath I asked about my CL....

It was 5k!!!

I did it, I did it. I never could have done it (or the house) without CB'ers help. Thank you guys. I am going to use my CC responsibly and PIF each month, but first I am going to update the credit pulls db.

I was denied in about 5 minutes after an online app yesterday. Reason was "Recent Lates" which is funny because the last late I have was from 2002 (Student Loan). I called for recon and provided some additional information ... lady asked me about 6-7 questions and said she would sent the file to the manager for review ... would know the answer in 24-48 hours.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will let everyone know the outcome.
