I am new to the boards and they have been a great help so far.

I have student loans (all paid now) spread thru my credit report, and am trying to come up with a game plan to either remove or mitigate the damage that they are doing to my reports.

I have student loans showing in three different places

The first two show in the credit section like this

then shows again in the collections section like this.

The loan was paid of on 08/08 but i assume that once final payment was recieved the collector had no instest in reporting the fact

I am not sure how to approach these... do i treat them the same as other items on my credit report

thank you for your help

Student loans are a completely different animal than other credit related products. Federal laws dictate reporting and collection activity. If the reporting you gave is 100% accurate, there is little to nothing you could do.

There have been scattered reports on these boards of people asking for GW on a 30 day late and being successful, but what you list is much worse than that.

The reports you show don't look like hard copies, so take them with a grain of salt. If the collection still lists a balance, you could try to dispute it based on this fact but they will probably just update the listing rather than delete it.

Unfortunately, you are probably stuck with these reporting for 7 years.

When Sallie Mae reported my loans as being late when they were supposed to be listed as in-school deferment, I went to them first (which was such a treat) and then disputed it with the CRA's. They came back and corrected it and all was well. I say dispute them with the CRA's (online if you can, it's quicker) and then directly with reporting companies as well (certified mail) include copies of receipts or cleared payments. Hope that helps!

If they update to show paid will it reflect the actual payment date 08/08 or will it reflect paid 07/09?

They are from a mortgage application a couple of months ago ( i managed to snag a copy) I have a recent hard copy from the CRAs but the formatting on the brokers copy was easier to cut and paste into the board

The only thing that i can see from the hard copy is the lates are reporting Zero time thirty, then one times 60 one times 90 and then 6 times 120. Once it reaches 120 it reports as 120 for six months
