I was at Six Flags Great Adventure on Saturday and while walking into the park I heard no less than 5 announcements that all credit card purchases need a valid ID.

I wonder if their merchant agreement allows that

NO MERCHANT AGREEMENT ALLOWS ID ON A SIGNED CREDIT CARD

The SIGNATURE on the back of the card is the ID

Six Flags in Negotiations to Stave Off Chapter 11

They don't need more business...SCARE OFF THE CREDIT CARD CUSTOMERS (well the ones who are informed of the rules)

Correction they have filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. Since, they filed does that make the merchant agreement invalid and they can do what they want? ID. surcharge etc

I am surprised the merchant provider does not cancel the merchant account because of the filing.

FILING FOR CHAPTER 11 BK WOULD NOT BE A GOOD REASON TO WAIVE THE ID POLICY

The policy is what it is...

They are not going to cut them off...they may actually get increased business because people may think they won't be there for much longer

BK changes some things, but not everything. Why would filing BK invalidate the merchant agreement?

...as long as the money keeps coming in...

I always thought they just took it out on the vendors

HINT--->KMART PAID $0.10/$1.00 TO MANY OF THEM (the ones that they actually got paid)

Completely prohibited and outrageous! Merchants cannot require ID. Whoever made/recorded/played that announcement must be retrained at once. Immediately call 1-800-VISA-911. Make sure that horribly behaving amusement park shapes-up and never asks for ID again.

Never show ID for credit card purchases.

No ID required for credit card purchases. Merchants cannot require ID.

If a merchant tries to require ID, immediately call 1-800-VISA-911 to ensure they never do again.

VISA: 1-800-VISA-911

MasterCard: 1-800-300-3069

Also easily report merchant violations online:

http://www.mastercard.com/us/personal/en/c...violations.html

Check the box that says "Merchant required ID"

Make sure your community is 100% violation-free.

ALL merchants in my area, whether using credit or debit, require you to show some form of ID

Honestly, I have no issue with it and i usually put on my cards see ID anyway

Makes me feel a little bit safer, being as though nobody asked the person who stole my fathers BOA debit card and charged it up, leaving him having to wait for months until the investigation was completed to get his money back

So you have NO problem with letting a cashier know what your address is???

Not that all cashier are criminals

I even have to cashier at times

CRIMINALS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO HAVE FAKE ID's

The bars here confiscate 100's of them every year with the start of each semester

(and that is just going in the door before they pay)

...AS IN THE DOOR GUY HAS A MACHINE THAT CHECKS FOR A VALID ID

I see your point, but theres plenty info that one could probably get off of me just by me handing them my CC if they are real hackers and identity tjhieves who want to jack me

Id rather someone ask me for my ID, just in case someone does steal my CC and tries to do something

Pretend your 15 year old "HOTTIE" daughter was with you in line

The 30+ cashier went GA-GA over her

Long story short...he now knows where you live because you allowed the store to VIOLATE THE CREDIT CARD POLICY

(although some LOVE TO SHOW ID...even insist on showing ID--->CID CRAP)

He shows up at your door asking HER for a date

It could happen...

and someone could also use my card because they didnt ask for it

Only time i heard u are not supposed to ask not ask for ID, is when it is a debit purchase with a PIN as that is your ID.

More likely that someone will steal my wallet and try to use my card than someone coming to my doorstep after seeing my address at work

I show ID at the club and at bars.

Just as much at risk, because most vendors and merchants just look at the picture and the name really fast.

I have a Georgia License, so they have to often times study it just to find my DOB and then make sure I am me.

Either way, it can be easily gotten.

I don't go to bars or clubs

I don't DRINK so I would not need to prove nothing to them with my LICENSE TO DRIVE
