Hi. I have been working on my CR, and now would like to address this. I have an acct with a CA for an old WaMu acct that had OD and closed in early 2007. The report has very little info other than it is listed as being sold (I assume to the CA I am disputing from CR already) and that it is for ODs. It further states that Chex has no debt information available, and to contact the source to determine if a debt is owed. It does not list the owner of the possible debt (I am assuming RJM). I have since been denied a credit union account at my place of employment. Do you have any suggestions as to how to handle this? I am thinking I should wait until the dispute is complete with CA and CRAs, then attack this. Thank you.

There is really no reason to wait to file a dispute with chexsystems. WAMU is a hard one but recently people have reported that it has been easier to get removed because of the merge with Chase. For that reason I would dispute now.

Did the report indicate nsf, account abuse or fraud??

The information is not accurate by the fact that it states " unknown" It should state that you owe adn the specific amount or it should show no debt owed or paid

but many times you are best to use that with the reporting bank as far as dispute and just use letter 1 for chexsystems

Thank you for your response. Do you suggest I tweak the letter to make it different, so as not to be a form letter, or does it matter with Chex, the form is okay as it is? Thanks again.

This is very similar to my Chexsystems report. I was denied at Chase because of it. I had with Harris Bank that was closed because of "NSF" and this is what my Chexsystems report states.

The report also states they have no debt information available, and to contact the source to determine if a debt is owed. I know it was sold to a CA (Barons) because that it was is stated on my TU CR. They only report to TU.

Here is why it is different for me. I suspect that someone else (perhaps my wife) either used my debit card or wrote my name to checks causing the overdrafts and the bank to finally close the account. I had no idea until I have just recently been trying to clean things up on my CR that I saw this out there. At the time, I could not explain the overdrafts.

My question is this; How do I dispute this? I strongly suspect a case of "identity theft". Do I dispute it the normal way thru Chexsystems or go thru the fraud alert process with them?
