My purse was stolen on Sunday and I reported my checks stolen as well. I went into the branch on Tuesday to open 3 new business accounts to replace the ones that were compromised. Today I went to deposit monies into the new account and it was frozen as well as the old ones. Come to find out, all of my account are frozen because I owed the bank $600 from 1999.

Well I was allowed to open these business accounts in 2005 through the second chance program and have not had a problem since. Now I have to wait 30 days and then possibly get the difference back in a check. My dilemma is I have my visa/mc payments going to these accounts. I have my monthly state Medicaid payments coming to these accounts as well.

The only silver lining is I opened 2 business accounts at BOA a year ago. Today, I open another new account and will redirect my monies for next month. It's gonna be a pain, but it's doable. Moral of the story....

Do not trust the banks. When Chase took over, they closed my secured card and now they are researching charged off bills 10 years old and taking their monies back. I'm glad as heck I did not open a cd with them

WAMU is one of the absolute worse banks when it comes to closing accounts on people. Over the past 7 years I can not begin to tell you the horror stories that I have heard about them. I am hoping that Chase might be a bit better. Chase does offer second chance checking but they even turn down people that are not reported to chexsystems because of credit issues.

Please note that anything reported to chexsystems should be removed after 5 years. If it is not, send them a letter and request that they remove you and they will

BTW, there is nothing on chexsystems regarding this issue. This came from the back office. They are researching every account and if you owe them for a credit card, bank account, loan, they will take the monies from you. They call this offsetting the account.

Wish I'd seen this earlier. It explains the hell I've been going through the past few days. Thx for the info.
