Student Loan fees

I had previously defaulted on about 24k and had been paying through garnishment after landing great steady employment.

 

I had been keeping track of the declining balance, when I happened to notice the balance go up again. I called to inquire about this and they tell me. Its because of the fees involved with taking the account. The fees are basically 5k and Im like OMG I already have 24k to pay for along with a 5k dollar fee. Is this normal????

 

I have an excellent interest rate is about3.2%

Mandatory collection fees are charged by the guarantor...up to 24%.

I understand, Do you have any helpful or useful insight besides. Pay the loan in full or pay the loan to term?

 

Or are there any kind of programs that help pay the loan, like loan grants, waivers, or foregiveness?

 

I have no educator experience or hardship

On a default in garnishment, the only way to resolve it is to complete a rehab or pay it in full.

 

Or are there any kind of programs that help pay the loan, like loan grants, waivers, or foregiveness?

Not in default.
