Sister had a horrible run of luck with checking accounts in the past.

Mostly due to her stupidity and stubbornness (we all warned her but...) managed to overdraft 3 checking accounts. Got herself chargedoff on all 3, collection accounts on all 3 and chexsystems on all 3. This was about 2 years ago. Now I am feeling sorry for her as I think she has learned the error of her ways. I am helping her (help herself.... with advice) get back on track. Got her a list of banks that dont sweat chexsystems too tough.

Bestbank is located in just about every Kroger store that there is not a Bank of America already there.

I told her that ChexsystemSux says that Bestbank is a good bet.

She called up there and the lady on the phone told her they use Chex.

She called me back discouraged but I told her to go up there and told to the manager and tell her her situation. I explained to her that they will only really deny you if you have notations of check writing fraud on your file. (this is what I heard from another bank manager back in the day when I was having trouble getting an account). She took my advice and came back with a checking account.

Told her to go back and get a savings account, deposit $50, link it with overdraft protection and forget about the $50. It will be her backup so she will never have to worry about overdraft fees again.

yes Best bank can be a good one. They are on my list as well.

-they use chexsystems but have a New Opportunity Checking for those on chexsystems.

-I called the 800 number and I was told that if you do not owe any debt and your report shows as paid or you have proof that it is paid by a letter from the reporting bank that you may be able to open a regular checking there.

-If you still owe, then they have an account called New Opportunity Checking. You must have been on chexsystems for at least one year, FRAUD IS NOT REPORTED ON THE ACCOUNT , AND THERE ARE NOT NUMBERS BANKS OWED MONEY

There is no charge for this account, it is free, checks for the life of the account are free as well.

She actually got the regular checking account even though she still has a balance showing on Chexsystems. I was pretty impressed with this bank and how they gave my sis a second chance where others would not. I will personally make sure she lives up to her part of the deal.

If I didn't have relationships with 5 banks already I would get one myself.

But i hear they have a saver's account for children so I might go ahead and open one for my seeds.
