I filed my taxes last week(extension was filed in April). Based on my information, the tax software calculated that I was due a refund. Because my SLs are currently in default(rehabbing w/3 more payments to go), I figured that I would eventually receive a notice that my refund would be intercepted.

I checked the staus of my refund on Monday and I got a message that my tax refund was still being processed.

I checked the status today and this is the message that I was given:

Refund Status Results

Your tax refund is scheduled to be direct deposited on October 10, 2008. If your refund is not credited to your account by October 15, 2008, check with your bank to find out if it has been received. Please wait until October 15, 2008 before you contact us again because we are unable to take any action until then.

If my refund was actually going to be offset, would I have gotten the above message?

I almost find it hard to believe that I will actually receive a refund.

Has this happen to anyone?

Thanks a bunch!

I am afraid to call because if I slipped through the cracks, unintended consequences may occur, such as the interception of my refund may be triggered if I enter my ss#. If my refund is not deposited on Friday, I will call the number to find out if I am on the list or not.

Well, I got anxious and decided to go ahead and call the number.

The automated system said that as of today there are no debts for me in the database system.

I have no idea why, but I am not complaining.

I hope this means that I will also get my stimulus money. :D
