I started reading on CB late last year when my EQ was 654. I just pulled my EQ score and it is now my highest ever at 746. Below are the screenshots over time. All of these score increases are with constant credit applications every 3-6 months. Huge thanks to CB and the mods/posters that took the time to help me, you know who you are

Hope this will encourage some newbs to keep fighting those CAs and don't give up. Success can be yours sooner than you think. Hints on how to do this yourself are scattered all over CB. What an incredible wealth of information here, if you just take the time to read. If you can put all the info together and draw some conclusions yourself, and read between the lines, you can accomplish anything.

Congrats, TCO!

I would suggest a credit union for your first 20k card.

Bob

Thanks, bob! Thats what Im thinking as well. Not sure which CU would be most probable to approve a 20k limit card....hmmmm....

Sounds like where I am. Good job. If I may, how did you do it/what did you do? Either way, good job. I figure it's through disputes and it encourages me to knock off Cavalry so my eq can be where you are. This just motivates me further.

 Now is the time for Alliant or Penfed!!!

Only asked for 15k from penfed when I was approved last week, but Im gonna ask for a CLI at activation and hopefully they can do it.

Alliant gave me the old online glitch and wouldnt even let me fund a savings account. I suppose I could call them tomorrow and go the paper app route.

Thanks, cocomad!

Im glad this motivates you to keep fighting CAs. My reports were clean back in July and my EQ score still remained under 700. One of the tricks I used that I believe had an effect was letting all of my accounts report a balance one month and then paying them off the next month. Fico shows "recent use of credit" as one of my fico attributes. I read about this trick awhile back but I wouldn't be able to find the thread right away...

Goodluck, kpb. You can do it.

Another myth I'd like to combat...

Too many open accounts. In my experience, the 30+ open accounts not only minimalized the damage done by new accounts, but if you have 30 accounts that hit fico bonuses everytime they hit an age milestone (6 months, 12 months, 2 years, etc) thats gonna add up quick. IMO, the more accounts, the merrier.

Not to mention every month theres a new CLI to ask for.

TCO, amazing work!! Glad to see that you are being rewarded for the effort!

Thanks, BB. I enjoyed keeping track of the fico score jumps. Like a hobby. Guess I'm a bit of a credit nerd right now. Trying to uncover any secrets.

Still can't bring myself to pay that $12 for the EX score tho with only amex and bofa pulling it in GA. Maybe I'll suck it up and feed the monster this one time.

<<cheap bump>>

I tried alliant again and this time it went through. $5k plat visa. Not much but its a start.

Also applied for partners first, said I was approved but it didnt say the limit.

I guess with the penfed approval last week, I'm good for the rest of the year.

What to do with my time now that I can't scout potential credit apps?
