So I have a student loan where I have 2 missed payments on over the 3 year period I've had them. I only have a $1800 balance and just keep making payments to add to my history instead of just paying it off. My questions is since its not a direct government loan can I rehab it or can I negotiate with the company to pay in full for deletion of the 2 late payments?

Rehab is available to both direct loans and FFELP loans....however they are only for loans in defult. Is your loan a stafford loan or a true private loan?

You cannot negotiate for any type of pay for delete of anything with student loans. For stafford loans, the balance is guaranteed. The lender has no vested interested since they get paid anyways. Pretty well the same for private loans.

Its a stafford loan. so pretty much I can't use the rehab program...that sucks. So is a goodwill letter my only chance?

*bump*

This question is relevant to my own situation as well :-)
