Have six paid medical bills on my FICO report under collections.

I was thinking of writing a good will letter to the hospital asking them to contact the CA (same one for all six) for removal from all CRAs. Is this the best approach? I was overwhelmed with medical bills for several years from cancer treatments, for most of my bills I was able to arrange payments with the hospital. But these six went to the CA. I did make payment arrangements with the CA, they were all paid in full and on time, so the FICO report reads all paid. I know it really drags down on my scores.

Do I need to get full credit reports from all CRA's now in order to try this?

On this site I know your recommend contacting all CRAs and opt out. What exactly is opt out? How is this to my advantage? And why is it recommended to update personal info? Are there any areas in the personal information that I should just leave as is? Right now I am job hunting and certainly don't want that anywhere.

Thank you for any input.

If you have moved since your medical/debt problems, try to get THAT/THOSE old addresses off your reports

Thank you for any input.

Opt out to prevent poisoning of your reports

http://whychat.5u.com/OPTOUTINST.HTML

Delete old addresses to prevent your reports from being compromised by "garbage" CA/JDB's.

Send the CRA's where any of these accounts are reporting this;( follow all the directions, no matter how silly they may seem)

If the accounts are NOT deleted, send the reporting CA's this;

and then follow up with this;

Thank you for the advice, I did the opt out tonight. Also printed out the form to get all three free credit reports from annualcreditreports.com by snail mail as you recommended on a post following mine. As soon as I get them I will continue with your instructions step by step.

I am using the myfico.com/report - where I purchased my Standard - Equifax (Score Power) in Feb. as a reference: *Date assigned and date reported is the same on 4 of the collections and the same on the other 2.

I printed out the pre HIPAA medical dispute letter and read through it so my next questions are:

Do I need to use the pre HIPAA letter with all three credit reporting agencies?

All six of the collections were from the same OC and all six to the same CA, can I list all six account numbers on one letter so that I would only be sending one pre HIPAA letter to each of the CRA's?

Or do I send one for each separate account number (=6 pre HIPPA letters) to three CRA's (=18 pre HIPPA letters)?

The pre HIPPA letters just typed on my computer in italic with purple or teal with hand addressed envelopes sent certified mail.

The second line on the letter says:

I am sending this dispute certified mail #xxxx to make sure you receive it -

Does the post office give you the certified mail #xxxx to be able to fill this area in before they go in the envelopes?

If thats the case do I just leave a blank space on typed letters for each of these numbers and fill each one in before sealing the envelopes?

Also on the report I have the agency is listed as 196yc00000 - is that information complete enough for these letters? I know it is coded - would the snail mail reports have the agency name on it?

Thank you,

The pre HIPPA letters just typed on my computer in italic with purple or teal with hand addressed envelopes sent certified mail. If you can print it on blue lined paper, or import a watermark, it will help

The second line on the letter says:

Does the post office give you the certified mail #xxxx to be able to fill this area in before they go in the envelopes?You can get the forms from the PO beforehand, or if you are doing it at the PO write in the certified mail # by hand

If thats the case do I just leave a blank space on typed letters for each of these numbers and fill each one in before sealing the envelopes?
