I've seen references to these and I've done several searches but must not be using the right key words or something. Can someone please post the contact phone numbers for CLI/ Recon/ Special Services, etc. If they are known for the following companies. If you prefer to PM them, then please do so.

Cap One

Macys

Lowes

Hooters

Kays

Jareds

Chase

Thanks!

You'll find that the truly useful contacts won't often be posted because then they get abused by some and they cease to be numbers to the people that can actually do something.

It is not that difficult with most companies to determine their corporate structure and place a direct-dialed (you know, where you actually paid for it) call to the ivory towers and work through the switchboard. Once i have found someone, I do keep them in my list of numbers, but I am really cautious about releasing the information...

I'm just curious, and maybe a little naive. But why would you want to keep numbers to yourself if you found them via means of a public source or by simply fumbling through a dial system? I mean, if you did it, then someone else could find it via the same means..... easier if you told them how?

I'm asking only because I either already have accounts with those companies or recently applied. I received a denial over the phone from Macy's which I don't think has anything to do with my score because I was approved by others. I think it's a blacklist thing from an old account (small Burdines CO about 10 years ago before they were Macys?) and I wanted to try and obtain a recon number to call so that I could speak with someone with more authority and hope they would give me another chance.

If not, thats okay. Thanks

There's a couple of numbers I have for specific decision makers at Discover and Amex that I don't give out. Mostly because I know they could come in handy later, and I don't that person to be bombarded with phone calls because of me. If someone was to PM me and ask for a number for Amex I would probably give out one of the two I have.

It would have been a whole lot nicer if you spoke of ONLY the ones you are willing to give out. :o

OP, it happens over and over and over... someone gets a great contact (or figures out a legit backdoor process) and shares it above ground with the entire community. Then, those people get blasted with stuff, a lot unrelated to their job functions (let's not forget spambots that harvest email addresses). You have folks who are too green to understand the purpose of following correct preliminary credit repair procedures, and see the newly posted contact as a shortcut.

In any case, the end result is that we have the contact or process shut down, all because we were not discrete.

I freely give contacts to those who ask, with one humble condition: I reserve the right to see what the problem is first. That is why I encourage those who want to be helpful to keep the real confidential contact info under the surface when possible (via PM).

Still, the greatest trait of successful players in the credit game, IMHO, is the ability to develop one's own set of contacts. The internet does make that super-easy.

My methods of pretexting have been discussed many times in my stay on CB. It starts with not being afraid of my phone and not stumbling all over myself on the phone when asking for corporate execs BY NAME or attempting to get their direct fax number from an assistant...

I end up with numbers or emails on the return communication that go to a named person, not some generic department. As has been pointed out by others, when they get 'outed,' they then get besieged by people looking to take the shortcut route to resolution. The other issue I would likely run into, having seen it before, it the inevitable complaints of why someone should have to PAY for a long distance call instead of reaching the person by toll-free number. Suffice it to say that the BEST results (at least for me) often come from sources not reachable through the toll-free lines...

Yeah, I mentioned the two later ones so that way if anyone PM's me, I can consider giving it out privately. :D

It kind of like finding a great babysitter: once word gets out, she won't ever be available when you really need her!
