Okay so I totally screwed myself by not applying to JFCU weeks ago. Now they use chex. sad.gif
What other credit unions in the CA area can I try? I really need a regular local bank I can walk in and deposit my paychecks to. We don't have direct deposit. I can't believe I missed out on JFCU!!! I am still going to finish my application with them. I already applied a week and a half ago but they needed my notarized DL and a proof of current address because we're military and DL addy doesn't match house.

On my application I sent them it had my info I believe... like SSN and such. So any chance that they might not run me?

There is an Island Credit Union, San Diego Credit Union... I am just scared to call and ask them if they run Chex... like if they don't and I ask.. then they will run it on me because I asked or something.

Correction to all of the above ...so sorry but bad information was given to me ........... JFCU still does NOT use chexsystems and neither does PENN FED

here is the info on them both

JUSTICE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION

http://www.jfcu.org

-THEY DO NOT USE CHEXSYSTEMS AND ANYONE CAN GET AN ACCOUNT The only thing they do require is that you are affiliated (join NSA) with them. In addition they do require a notarized copy of DL. They also do a soft pull on your credit report for verification purposes only.

MEMBERSHIP

If you're not eligible to join Justice FCU through any of the employee groups listed above and you are not a relative of an eligible individual, you can still join Justice FCU by first becoming a member of the
National Sheriffs' Association (NSA).

go to www.sheriffs.org and sign up that way and it cost $20.00 for the cheapest NSA membership... In about 2 weeks you will get a card from them copy it and mail it in with your application to JFCU OR

Once you pay online for the NSA membership you will receive an email within 24 hours stating your membership #. Print that and they will accpet that rather than waiting for your card.

EMAIL:01-22-08
Dear Prospective Member,
Thank you for contacting Justice FCU. We will obtain your credit report when the application is submitted and use this for verification of your identity. Other documentation may be required to complete the application. Unfortunately we would not know until you submitted your application if this would be true in your case. You may submit your application by phone or you may print, complete and mail your application with your deposit to 5175 Parkstone Drive Suite 200 Chantilly, VA 20151. Our application is available under Forms and Applications on our homepage.
Thank you,
Tracey

APPARENTLY PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH JOINING THEM THROUGH THE ALUMNI... IT LOOKS AS IF TOO MANY PEOPLE FROM OUR BOARD HAD TRIED TO JOIN AT ONCE SO THEY STARTED TO DENY ACCOUNTS BASED ON OTHER REASONS

If you go to our website "www.pennstatefederal.com" and scroll down on the menu on the left side of screen to "credit union service centers". Click on this heading. Complete the screen with an address and the system will respond with service centers closest to you. When you go to a service center you need to know your membership account number.

Penfed - Pentagon Federal Credit Union does a hard pull on Equifax when you apply for a checking account with them.

At least, they did me when I applied 8 months ago.

I don't know if they pulled Chex or not. My Chex report is clean.

Knight.. that email was from PenFed.

As far as Justice Federal, they are very picky now about memberships that are through the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA).Most are being denied. But no they still do not use chexsystems.
