Well we will definately be getting a check. So I can quit checking for it. These agents like giving out the most basic, inconsistent information. But its not only their fault. We've been relying on these extra funds for some time to pull us out of the hole.
Enough boo hoo'ing from me.
ETA: On a good note, 1st round of paper checks went out today.

QUOTE(RocketDog @ May 8 2008, 04:45 PM) QUOTE(cb_opus @ May 8 2008, 11:35 AM) Has anybody who OWED this year and paid online EFT, gotten a DD yet? I read somewhere that if you had to pay in instead of getting a refund, you will be getting a paper check. I thought that didn't apply if you did EFT (i.e. they have your bank info). I think it's either we're getting penalized for not lending them interest-free money during the year, or (more likely) we're still outside the 6-week window that they seem to be looking at ("please wait until 6 weeks after you submit your tax return to check your status" - paraphrased), 'cuz most folks who owe, don't pay early, even if they don't wait until the 15th. I filed in early April - at about the 5-week mark now. Pain the butt. Not desperate, but still...

QUOTE(Someday800 @ May 9 2008, 10:40 AM) I'm such an idiot!!!! Woke up, expecting to be stimulated as soon as I logged into my bank account - NOTHING!!!! Then I remembered to check another bank account that I rarely use (just throw in random deposits and forget about it). I had forgotten that I used that one for my refund in February. It was in there! So, after being let down early, I was happily stimulated!!!! well...I am a bigger idiot!lol.. I went into my online bank account today and saw a dep from the US TREASURY for 2100.00 and I had no idea why it was there. I emailed my husband this morning to see if he knew anything about it....but have not heard back from him yet........just now, happened to click on this thread, which I have ignored since it started because I did not know what stimulus money was. I wont even ask why we are getting this money......(I will go back and read more through the thread)........but..what a nice surprize...!!!

QUOTE(figueroa4 @ May 9 2008, 11:01 AM) I was really hoping to see ours today (67) but no, as well as no info on the IRS site. So I started looking to see which bank account I had sent the DD too previously. That's when I remembered that I had split the payment up into 2 accounts - most going to our savings acct and the rest going to our checking acct. What do you think will happen? I have a bad feeling that this means paper check for us QUOTE Q. I used direct deposit to split my refund betweeen several accounts when I filed my tax return. What will happen to my stimulus payment? Will it go to just one of the accounts?
A. If you elected to split your refund between several accounts, you will not receive your stimulus payment by direct deposit. Instead, you will receive a paper check.

Woohoo! Got mine (SS in 40s). I only got $400 because I was a student last year and didn't make very much as I only worked part time. This is a really nice surprise because last week I read that people who were students in 2007 will not be getting their stimuluses (stimuli?) because they could be claimed as dependents. I graduated in 07 and now I'm working full time, so i'll probably get the other $200 when I file in 2009. So I will be stimulated twice!

QUOTE(cb_opus @ May 8 2008, 12:35 PM) Has anybody who OWED this year and paid online EFT, gotten a DD yet? I haven't yet and based on my SSN I should have gotten a DD by today. However, based on what I found below on the IRS site, I'm betting I'm screwed and will be getting a paper check somewhere around the end of June. QUOTE(texasnightowl @ May 8 2008, 02:12 PM) Well, if anyone remembers above, I had to pay...so no refund/direct deposit. But I paid via direct debit from my checking acct. Just found the following on IRS site: QUOTE Q. I chose direct debit to pay my tax bill. Will my stimulus payment be direct deposited to the same account?
A. No, the account information used for an incoming direct debit payment to the IRS cannot be used as the account information for the direct deposit of the stimulus payment. People who choose direct debit to pay a balance due will receive their stimulus payments by paper check through the mail. [Updated 3/3/08]
Q. I plan to choose direct debit to pay my tax bill. I know my economic stimulus payment will not automatically be direct deposited based upon the direct debit information I've provided to pay my tax bill, but can I also enter direct deposit information to receive my stimulus payment by direct deposit?
A. Some tax preparation software will allow this, some will not. You will have to make this determination based on your own review of the tax preparation software you use. If the tax software allows you to enter both direct debit (electronic funds withdrawal), as well as direct deposit information, doing so will allow your economic stimulus payment to be direct deposited. [New 3/20/08] I don't remember what Web Turbo Tax allowed or what I filled in besides the direct debit for my payment. At this point, I'm guessing I'm getting a paper check.

I don't think the right hand knows what the left hand is doing lately. For some online tax filers, rebate check will arrive later by mailJim Stratton May 9, 2008 So you filed your tax return electronically and are counting the days until the government's rebate check materializes in your bank account. Well, you might need to count a little longer. Some electronic filers will have to wait until the paper checks hit the mail -- starting no later than May 16 and continuing through July 11 -- to get their $600-a-person slice of government largesse. The reasons are a little hard to follow -- this is the IRS, after all -- but the bottom line is this: The IRS will not direct-deposit a rebate check for people who filed an electronic return through a private tax preparer such as H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt and got a loan in anticipation of a refund. Or for people who used a program such as TurboTax and agreed to have their online-filing fee deducted from their refund. Their checks will be, as they say, in the mail. "In [those cases], we can't send the payment electronically," said Gloria Sutton, an IRS spokeswoman in Florida. "We have to convert those to paper checks." That means some electronic filers will have to wait weeks before the money arrives. Electronic rebates began May 2 and continue through May 16. The dates for when electronic transfers are made or checks are sent are governed by the last two digits of the recipient's Social Security number. Generally, single taxpayers can expect $600; married couples get twice that. Each child younger than 18 qualifies for $300. Cindy Maguire expected her $1,200 rebate to arrive around the middle of this month. Now, she'll have to wait until July. "I was going to pay down my credit card with that," said Maguire, who lives in Tallahassee and works for a lobbying firm. "I have vacation coming up." Maguire uses the computer program TurboTax, meaning she pays an online filing fee -- about $30. This year, she had the fee deducted from her tax refund. And that's what caused the delay. That decision meant that a bank somewhere paid her filing fee and sent her the balance of her refund. Similarly, when a taxpayer gets a "refund anticipation loan" from a tax preparer, the money comes from a participating bank, not directly from the IRS. In both cases, the IRS doesn't have the taxpayer's bank-account number to electronically deposit the rebate check. Calls from taxpayers and reporters prompted the IRS this week to issue a news release addressing questions about the rebate checks. The agency estimates that nearly 130 million rebates will be sent. About 67.4 million people filed their tax returns electronically this year. Kamia Mwango of DeLand was planning to put her rebate into a six-month certificate of deposit to save money for a trip to Boston in the fall. Since the rebate now probably won't arrive in time to do that, she said, she'll route it into a money-market account. "I just feel sorry for those people who needed the money to cope with rising food and energy costs, and the people who needed it to pay down a credit card," Mwango said. "I feel bad for those folks who will have to wait that much longer for their money."

Thanks for posting this - I think it's a rotten excuse - they can suck the cash out of my acct in a day, but can't put anything in it? Conspiracy theory or not, I really think they want to penalize those who don't loan them money all year. I've got my W-4 nearly perfect now - owe less than $100 every year, never a refund. I'll probably get a check in late June. cr@p.

QUOTE(Lisa98 @ May 9 2008, 04:23 PM) How can they not have the banking info, when its right on the return? What a load of BS! Not BS. I'll explain what happens at Block, I assume other preparers operate similarly. When a taxpayer has their tax prep. fees withheld from their refund, their regular bank account info does not appear on their tax return. What happens is HSBC opens a temporary account to receive the refund. It is the info for this account that appears on the tax return. When the IRS releases the refund into this account, HSBC takes its fee, HRB takes its fee, and HSBC deposits the remainder into the taxpayer's regular bank account, which was given to HSBC only. Once that takes place, the temporary HSBC account is closed. I don't have the agreements in front of me, but I believe the temporary account is authorized for the sole purpose of handling the refund from that specific tax return. HSBC has no authority to reopen the account to accept the stimulus DD.

She said our refund will be mailed Friday and we should prob get the Rebate DD on friday may 9th. (hubby's last are 98). She said at the latest it would be may 16th, but she said according to their info, it will be this friday.
WOO HOO. I won't hold my breath. 93 and I keep getting: QUOTE We are sorry. Specific information about your Stimulus payment is not available. I know angel, mine says the same thing. I mentioned that to her about how the website is giving these stupid error messages but she told me what she saw in her computer so....maybe you will get yours friday too. Did you get yours today? I didn't and I'm actually kinda upset (not about *that* money, but about the fact that it won't be going to savings but to semi-unexpected car expenses). I'm just getting frustrated as I don't know what the hold up is with our payment (our's still says online that there is absolutely no information). I e-filed in February. I actually think, I got the refund like Feb 29th. (just before March). I didn't pay *any* fee for using the turbotax e-file or anything like that. So nothing taken out of the refund. It's been probably around 3 months since I filed, so I'm outside the 6 week window. I just don't understand what's taking some DD stimulus checks so long, while others get deposited really quickly.

So I did rapid refund with my taxes. I'm getting a paper check? My last two are 65. So doesn't that mean I'm getting my stimulation June 27?

QUOTE(angeleyeskkhr @ May 9 2008, 06:34 PM) QUOTE(cfj503 @ May 7 2008, 10:13 PM) QUOTE(angeleyeskkhr @ May 7 2008, 06:30 PM) QUOTE(cfj503 @ May 7 2008, 12:26 PM) Just talked to the IRS again cuz I keep getting that error message.
I just don't understand what's taking some DD stimulus checks so long, while others get deposited really quickly. nope, we didn't get ours today either. I really dont' think they know what they are doing. We efiled feb 4th and would have had our returns on the 14th, but my SL took them. They FINALLY got our inj spouse from Mar 19th and I was told that our REFUND should have been mailed out today---by check. Our rebate should have been deposited today by DD, but nothing. I am wondering if my credit union just hasn't credited it or what. Or if we won't get it til next Friday or if they are actually mailing a check and not DD. Our credit union does this weird thing where they put another number on the end of your account, but it's not something that is known so when you go to do a DD, if that extra number is not there, it won't get to your account right away. Bizarre. I am thinking I am calling the CU in the a.m. to find out if this is what happened. I filed using a free one as well--we weren't charged anything. I will be really ticked off if my friend who just filed on April 14th got hers already. I haven't talked to her yet today to find out. I know my other friends got theirs today, so did all but me and one of the other girls in my moms' group.
