I spoke with the IRS and found out that because I had my preparation fees deducted from my refund as oppose to paying them upfront that I will be receiving a paper check. I used OLT.com and used SBBT RT in which the IRS paid them and they deposited the money in my account. The lady told me that my check should be going out on the 16th.

Blah, I owe the feds $160 for taxes this year, and I forgot to mail my check out for it -- do you know if (and when?) they'd take it out of my stimulus payment?

It should come normally minus what ever you owe.

I used the "Where's My Stimulus Payment" link and I notice this

"Remember, in order to qualify for the Stimulus Payment, you
must have filed your 2007 tax return more than 6 weeks ago."

Notice they use the word "qualify"? They didn't send the form with instructions until 3 1/2 weeks ago.

It gets to the last page and says all of the "We're sorry" stuff and then gives this reminder;
"You did not submit a 2007 return as of 6 weeks ago, so you may not "qualify" for a stimulus payment.
Huh? Our instructions said we needed to turn it in before Apr 15 2008 or Oct 18 2008.
Right hand knows not what the left hand does! laugh.gif

I asked a similar question a few pages back.

Does this mean if you didn't file by March 1 (or 15 or whatever), you don't qualify? I'll be mighty po'd if that's the case.

I filed in early April and received my rebate already.

What an efficient government we have! The original date for my refund was 5/9, then they were a week early and going to do it 5/5. Instead, I got it today, Saturday, 5/3!

So this thing with TurboTax... how do you determine if you get a paper check or direct deposit? We have been using TT for the past 5 years with Direct Deposit. Our return has our bank information on it directly. I can't recall if we had the fees deducted or if we paid for them upfront. Any way to know for sure if you are getting a paper check or a DD? Last 2 is 71, when I use the "Where's my rebate" I get the error message, and my on-line banking doesn't show any scheduled deposit. sad.gif

Turbo Tax people will get a paper check if they had their fees deducted from their refund.

I am 62 with direct deposit and I get the same error. I did not use Turbo Tax so hopefully i will get it by the scheduled May 9 deposit??

Ouch. Looks like I'm a paper-check receiver then. Wife says we have always deducted fees from the refund itself. Hope my truck tires will hold up the extra couple of months. smile.gif

all direct deposits are supposed to be done by may 2. and paper checks started next friday. direct deposits done all next week except thursday. most will be done on friday though.

I think this is what is confusing everyone. I think this MSN article is incorrect because it says all dds will be done by May 2. NOWHERE else does it say that - no other news stories nor the IRS Web site. It just says everything is going out a few days earlier than originally planned. So if you were supposed to get it by May 16 then you should get it around May 11.

If we all get it next week, great. But if not, I hate to see people counting on it - because I'm not sure that's the plan exactly IMO

That would be great! The Money Central graphic says all dds by May 2 and I think that's been a bit "stimulating" here on the board.

Ok - now I'm really confused...

My last 2 SSN are 45. IRS just gives me that same message that everyone else is getting about "not having any information." So how is it that some people with digits higher than mine got their money Friday and I haven't gotten mine yet.

My return was filed in March, I'm single head of household with 2 kids.

Aren't they going in number order or something?

Has anyone who filed using 1040 (not EZ or A) and falls in the first or even second group receive notice that their rebate will be DD?

I'm wondering. My mom's SSN ends in 31 and she gets the same #@$ message I get. She filed electronically using form 1040 in January, had 0220 Tax Refund as her DD for deposit.

I had to file using form 1040 also.

I'm 64, so I should be getting mine by this friday I suppose.
I filed with H&R Block and used DD. I think it was free, so I think I should get it right away with DD.
