I don't think the IRS is doing deposits today. Tomorrow is supposed to be the giant batch getting deposited.

Please don't make nasty or condescending comments to those who are waiting for this check. No, it will not change their life, but it may cause one less gray hair on some...

Plus, I was reading and partaking in this thread as some sort of game - "Who got their check?" "Not today." Etc., etc.

LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!!!!!

Um, no one has been nasty or condescending. I just said to be patient, as well as some other people. You'll get your money soon, whether that's today or next week.

You're taking it for more than it was intended.

Once again, who has the right to tell people to be patient??? Who are we to determine what peoples level of patience should be? Who is being hurt by the lack of patience?

Someone doesn’t want to be patient, then don’t patient….who cares??? No need for self-appointed mind guards!!

If you are the one issuing the checks and people are calling you every 5 minutes asking for their check then you have every right to tell people to be patient. If not……

I got this message which doesn't make sense since i received my DD in February.

We are sorry, but we cannot provide the status of your Stimulus payment. Please check the Payment Schedule available on our web site. If the filing status on your 2007 tax return is Married Filing Joint, please use the FIRST Social Security Number shown on your return when you use the Payment Schedule to find your estimated payment date. The schedule will show you approximately when you can expect to receive your payment, if you qualify for it.

Please allow 2 weeks from the date shown on the schedule to receive your payment.

Remember, in order to qualify for the Stimulus payment, you must have filed your 2007 tax return.

When being impatient in regards to credit repair, one could possibly do more harm than good. So yes, patience is good in many instances. In this case, who’s being harmed by the impatience???

I think that's some generic canned response that EVERYONE is getting .. I got the same one.

I filed the middle of February (I owed $100 this year) ... and they cashed my check a week after I mailed it.. so I know they got my return.

So, if the IRS is a week ahead, I'll get my DD tomorrow instead of scheduled day of 5-9-08?

No, I'm not personally being harmed. I just like to keep things in perspective. You can be as impatient as you want. But the check will still get there when it gets there. wink.gif

I think it has come out that they're really not a week ahead. For some maybe, but not all. I think the only thing you can count on is that it will be dd'd BY 5/09. I'm in the same batch.

This is a thread to discuss whether or not you have received your stimulus check yet. Please refrain from the "have patience" comments and try to be polite to each other.

For the record, we filed in February, got the stimulus letter, were set up for a May 9 DD, and I am getting the we're sorry message on their website too. Not gonna worry about it until like May 12th, although I will be ticked if my new couch goes off sale before the check comes!

QUOTE(Someday800 @ May 1 2008, 06:22 AM) *
While this tax stimulus is NOT going to change anyone's life in the long-term, others who have emergency funds and are sitting pretty should not be disparaging those who are impatiently waiting. (Now if the gov. had just never said anything about sending the rebates out early, people wouldn't be partly panicking - the way they originally set it up with the numbers and the dates that the checks/dd's would be sent "by" worked just fine.)

I keep checking my bank account and my daughter's bank account - because I have this addiction to making sure everything single thing is logged in. In the past I have had a breach because my ATM card # was stolen and used - and if I didn't check regularly (I used to check in every few days or so), I would have had a MAJOR problem on my hands. I caught the problem early enough and the right steps were taken with the bank.

The $600 my daughter is waiting for will help her purchase some supplies she needs for her job. The sooner, the better for her.

I would never question anyone's impatience or irritation at waiting for this money. There was a time when I first got divorced that I literally had to roll pennies from a big coin jar I had to put gas in my tank to get to work to provide for my 3 kids (since my ex refused to pay a dime yet wanted to go live the high life). I did whatever I could (well, not "whatever", but you get my drift) to make sure my kids had food, shelter and clothing. Back then, if I knew I was getting some extra money - i.e., tax stimulus rebate - I would be on pins and needles just waiting, knowing it would take a little stress off me, if only temporary.

Thanks Some for the perfect comment!

I'm in that gray hair boat myself. DH has only been working 3 days a week since last October (construction trades UGH!) This small chunk of change couldn't come at a better time!

My $$ not here yet, according to schedule will be DD by 5-16, though no information given on the 'where's my gubment $$' link.

What am I going to do with my $$? Why, I'm going to do the only American thing; blow it on beer and lottery tickets. And when I hit the jackpot, my life WILL change. wink.gif

Did anybody see the fine print in the "Where's my stimulus payment section (after you enter your info) that says that in order to qualify you had to have filed your 2007 taxes more than 6 weeks ago?

I filed the first week in April - the gov't sucked my tax payment out of my acct on 4/9 - do you think I'm going to have a problem getting my rebate?

Yay! I would be pyched too if I wasn't a "high earner" and made more than $75k/ yr.- which, by the way, is ridiculous. $75k in NYC or Boston is about the equivalent of $30k in Kansas City. It's incredibly unfair that a cost of living consideration isn't accounted for in this whole "refund" (read: redistribution), no?

PS I make $105k a year in the metro Boston area and don't come even close to the "living standards" of my friends in Charlotte who make $60k/ yr. Just an observation....

BS, a loaf of bread, gallon of gas, new Corvette, etc, etc cost the same essentially anywhere in the US. The only difference is housing. And even if your house costs 2x more than mine, you should only need at most an extra $10k per year to cover the payments & insurance. So I'd like to know where this huge cost of living difference comes from becasue it's not coming from food & gas or autos??

Local taxes, state taxes, real estate taxes, sales taxes, income taxes, etc. Local bond issues. The price of fuel is not constant across the US-my 3.59 gas is 4.00 in other places. Even if the difference is just in housing costs and taxes that can be HUGE. I pay 2800 for a 920 sq ft, 3 br, 1 bath and the lot in NE. I know people that pay a lot more and a lot less-jsut saying.

Massachusetts also has excises taxes (though you paid a sales tax when you bought a vehicle, you still have to pay this excise tax to park it in MA - even if you own the property it's parked on!)

Car insurance is through the roof. I pay more each year in car insurance for my 19-yr old college student than I paid for the car! And she has never had any tickets or accidents. I'm glad my other 2 have good enough jobs that they pay their own insurance.

A friend of mine moved to Kansas a few years ago - he could not believe the difference in the cost of living!
