Tax Returns and Stimulus Pkg Money

Does anyone here know if offset tax returns and stim. pkg. money are applied to the balance of defaulted SLs? How long does it take to register on DOEs and/or CAs system? What is the process?

 

Or does the money just evaporate into govt air?

 

I just started rehabing my loans, and my balance is $18,000, which I'm assuming includes the 25% CC.

 

I would hate it if $3,000 just disappeared next month.

 

Or should I wait until Dec. to file, a month after rehab is complete?

When I was going thru rehab, I did not file till late in the year.
