Cosigner on Private Student Loan w/Wells Fargo Seeks Removal From Credit Report

I made the age old mistake of co-signing for someone's private student loan with Wells Fargo back in 2000. That person filed bancrupt and was completely discharged recently. Prior to the completion of the BK, the loan was in a charge off status. I have tried to remove this item from my credit on several occassions without any success. Since the completion of the BK, Wells Fargo has been calling requesting payment. Does anyone know how to have this burden removed from me?!? Thanks

Keep in mind that student loans public and private, are non dischargable in BK, unless very special circumstances exist.

Thanks for the response. You are correct. I spoke with the person who I co-signed for and the loan hasn't been dismissed nor discharged. Wells Fargo isn't contacting that person; they are only contacting me. In the past they (Wells Fargo) didn't contact me even when the loan payments were late. Now that the charge off is posting on my credit report is there anyway I can have it removed?!?
Thanks

Probably not. They are now going to look to you to pay it since the principal has filed BK. Plus they will more than likely end up filing suit against both of you shortly.

Is this still the case? There's no possible way to have someone else's student loan that you co-signed on to be removed from your own credit report? What if the initial co-sign agreement was signed under direst?
Thanks!
This is still good info.
