I agree to be billed 10 days from now at $14.95 per month if I do not cancel my no obligation 10-day free trial. A three month minimum subscription applies.

I wanted to go to myfico - from what I have read on here this is the only place to obtain FICO as opposed to FAKO. I was going to do the 10 day trial score watch and then read:
BEWARE!
The method outlined below will put you on Equifax's Choppage list.
I started a thread last week to point out one way to get 30% off an Equifax FICO score.
It involves signing up for the free10-day Score Watch Trial.
Just buying an Equifax FICO score in the past did not put one on the C* list.
Signing up for the free 10-day Score Watch Trial WILL result in C*
The free score obtained will be visible for 10 days.
*IF* you want access to a score and the FICO Estimator for a month, you'll have to buy a score.
I went and looked up Choppage as I have never heard of that before (but then again all of this is new to me) - after reading up on it I am still not understanding it. Can someone please explain? Should I not do the Scorewatch 10 day trial? I am also considering the quarterly monitoring or the fitness challenge - would either of those cause choppage? My goal is to obtain copies of my credit report and credit score to start "cleaning up". Haven't quite figured out how to go about doing this yet but I will keep researching that topic as well.
Hard pulls, soft pulls, chexsystems, inquires, choppage, B* (whatever that is)....trying to understand all this is making my head hurt!
Thanks for any input...

It's the truth. The economies bad and people are short on funds. When you have a product with a pretty much fixed cost where giving a discount doesn't cost in "real" money so to speak giving discounts is a good way to boost revenue through the tried and trued quantity method, sell more for a lower price vs fewer at a higher price. I'll buy my EQ this month but not TU, especially with the TU score being much less useful due to their being three different variations of it in use. It's about to the point of not being much more useful than a FAKO.

They would have been better off raising prices across the board, and then giving discounts and keeping affiliates. Same effect on their revenues, but people feel good about buying when they're given a "discount" and site owners like us have motivation to promote the purchases.
Now they're offering bigger discounts via their email list, but you have to join an expensive service and pay 3 months up front for the "trial period" where they bill you first, and refund your money later if you cancel - and they're probably paying telemarketers big commissions to convince people not to cancel. When companies use that marketing tactic, people get angry. Those telemarketers have good reason not to put the cancellations through. I know people who worked in those call centers. They just didn't cancel it. They would keep you on the phone until you hung up on them, then not cancel. I don't know what kind of marketing they teach now in those expensive degree programs. It just keeps getting worse.

What can it cost FICO to pull your score? They would make more money if they offered a TU EQ bundle for 15 maybe 20 bucks than they must be making now.
