This year once again my son got a pell grant and also a small student loan. His credit hours are 14 which is considered full time. However he has decided to drop one class ( it is an online class and he most definetly needs to be lead and he needs the classroom atmosphere. Now since he dropped this class his credits will be down to 11 which I believe is part time now, will this effect his pell grant and or student loans. Not sure if he can pick up a class or not, I know they told him he could not go from an online class to a classroom, but he could do the opposite. But since all the classes started in aug, he would be behind whereever he went. I just don;t want him to mess up his grant and loan, but the class he dropped he was quite behind:(

His spring schedule will be atleast 14 to 16 credits.

Thanks

first, it depends on school policy about term drop dates and repayment deadlines, the expected units for spring term aren't calculated. normally, loan amounts do not change, but they may knock a few hundred off of the next fall pell disbursement. since full time is usually calculated at 12 or more credits per term and he has 11, i would surprised by any major deductions for the fall term.
