If you got the iPhone early and paid with your Amex and want to get back the price difference if you are outside of Apple's price protection window Amex has been giving customers the refund all day with no hassle.

Happily, I bought my iPhone about a week ago, so I'm going into the store tomorrow to claim my $200.
I read through the FW forum and saw that some were planning on getting the 200 credit from Amex, and then turning around to get the $100 gift card from Apple.
I used my Hilton Honors Amex, but I don't think I will double dip. It just doesn't seem right. Am I wrong?

PS. I love my iPhone. I was looking to get rid of Sprint anyway, and this was a good excuse.
I had a Palm Treo 700w, and I am very happy to relieve myself of that BRICK-sized thing. Since my Palm Treo is only 6 months old, I'm considering selling it on Ebay, with a ton of accessories.

I was interested in the Iphone, but it doesn't come with 3G capability, which means it is useless for me. I got a Cingular 8525 instead, it has wifi, 3G, and it is one of the few phones sold in North America that I can use in Japan. What's more, I can use it as a modem for my laptop or home pc, and on the 3G network the download speeds are fairly impressive.
As a matter of fact, at this moment my laptop is connected to the internet via my cell phone. As I write, I'm watching streaming of my home cable tv channels.
For hype and style the Iphone gets an "A", but it can't compete on a functional level with many PDA phones costing half as much.

Incredibly interesting that the policy applies to technology. There was a news blip about it on AOL.COM (news) Did they give anybody their money back on BETAMAX??? It is whose fault that the price dropped???????? WAS ANYBODY REALLY RIPPED OFF????????? I bought tires for one of my DURANGO'S (PRE-ORDER) and the price went down by the time I had them installed I didn't expect them to lower the price...BUT THEY DID (especially since it was 25% price drop) BUY 3 GET 1 FREE

CB's WHIPPING BOY WHAT REWARDS DO YOU GET FROM THIS CASH STUFF??? "AVAILABLE" is not debt That credit card fee is TAX DEDUCTABLE (don't MICRO-MANAGE the fee at the expense of paying business) GOT YOUR 4506-T READY YET??? MEMBERSHIP HAS IT'S REWARDS HAVE YOU BEEN AMEXED??? My ID is the signature on the back of my credit card--AND IT DOES NOT SAY C.I.D. I have a license to drive a car/truck...it is not a permit to use my signed credit card DOES KNOWING YOUR SCORE HELP YOU PAY YOUR BILLS??? Don't forget the DOWN-SIDE to using DEBIT CARDS (unintended consequences) Disputing ACCURATE ADDRESSES can have side effects (LOSS OF POSITIVE ACCOUNTS) OBAMA-CARE WILL COST HOW MANY $1,000,000,000,000's why can't I opt-out

I just got off the phone. Amex asked for the basic information about the transaction. The woman on the phone was really nice. Says they have had thousands of calls today for this. She said there is no guarantee that I will get the money back since it is not covered normally, but they are reviewing all the cases and it "looks good". Its worth a shot. An extra 400 dollars cant hurt.

So you could get your money from AMEX You could get your money back from the store (assuming it is like WALMART/TARGET/K-MART type store that will let you get the lower price for a limited time) Then you get money from APPLE Is it FREE yet?????????

I think this whole thing is funny. When you buy a new car for $20k and you drive it off the lot and Sandman tells you your car is now worth $15k do you drive back in for a refund of that money? No, the price was $600, you were willing to pay that and you bought it, stop whining about the price going down earlier than you like. If they told all these people they would lower the price in 10 weeks alot of them still would have bought it because they wanted the "hot new toy" first before everybody else.

That'd be cool if you could get the $200 from AMEX and the $100 from Apple.

Addison C.U. / AMEX Blue Cash / American Eagle / Capital One x2 Chase x3 / Citi / Dell / Discover / First National/Legacy / GM Flex / HSBC / Jared's Juniper/Carnival Sea Miles / Kay's / Macys / Merrick/Hooters / PayPal BC / Target / WalMart / Zales
Struggling to stop applying... It really is an addiction!

I can get BETTER for under $100 I'm ashamed to tell you what I paid for the Sony Betamax. The quality was far superior to VHS but it is what it is.

This is change?
Can we change back?

I guess then that you never check the sales at Best Buy for the month after you buy a big ticket item, for example. I saved 300 on a Flat Screen TV that went on sale the week after I bought it. I see nothing wrong in expecting them to honor price differences within the return period. After all, I could always return it for a full refund, then buy a new one at the new price. Funny how these "stop whining" messages come from newbies.
