About $500. We don't have any kids so that's why we don't spend much. We spent most of the money on each other and the remainder on our family.

6 or 700 hundred run through one of my rewards cards. I can do a PIF when the bill comes.

I have about 500 bux in rewards waiting to be redeemed but I think I will pay out of my bank account and wait for that 500 bux to grow a bit bigger for a nice LCD TV for next football season(or most of it)

267.32 (I love Quicken to track it)

probably roughly even between Amazon Visa (triple points) and Starwoods AMEX.

That was for: mom, brother, brother's GF grandma and three friends. First time home at Christmas in two years and went a little over board o:)

Add an extra $279 to include my present to myself--plane ticket to visit friends in January.

We spent a good deal more than I had originally figured, but a lot of that was on furniture for ourselves, so it isn't just gifts. Other expenses such as car inspection repairs also exceeded expectations.

But, as I look at the numbers, incoming, outgoing, and existing bank balances, and other upcoming bills, I expect to get through it all without carrying a balance (other than my existing 0% BT teaser that I used to pay off the mortgage).

I ran about a grand up on my AMEX.

I really thought I'd spend more but I found sales, shopped online, etc.

With what I didn't spend on Christmas gifts I decided to buy myself something nice, so I did.

This will be the first year in quite some time that I've gotten something I actually wanted.

Ha!

I normally don't spend this much ($3k) but I got a couple high priced items. The Wii, memory card and three games ( I said two earlier) was $400 and I bought my wife this $500 remote car starter that works a mile away and tells you if the car is started or not. She works at the same hospital I do and she has to park like a half mile away. I guess it was worth it.
The other stuff just kinda added up. It's okay. $200-300 a month until may should about cover it. 0% is the only reason I spent so much.

Merry X-mas everyone!

P.S. If anyone cares to know, we opened our gifts tonight and played the Wii. It's AWESOME! The whole family bowled all night.

Good to know about the Wii--can't find one around here but b-days are around the corner so maybe then.

I'm hoping for garnets

First of all, Merry X-mas to all!
Now that you all are done shopping, wait... Now that you are ALMOST done shopping, how much debt did your cards get as a result? Not trying to be nosie, just curious as to what card you used this holiday shopping season and why???

Me? I dropped just over $3k. My youngest is only 20 months so Lil' tykes Basketball, an Elmo phone and a few $10 gifts cut it for him. My other son is 12 so he is a little harder to please. The Nintendo Wii, two games and a memory card cost a bit more.
That, a few things for my extended family and all my wife's gifts and that gave me about $3k total. I put $1k on my Amex blue but paid that in full already. The other $2k (actually $1,900) I put on my WaMu MC. It only has a $2k limit but it has 0% APR until May so that is flippin' awesome!

All in all, this will be a good Christmas. This time last year??? I had been busting my hump working a second job just to come up with enough money to even have a decent X-mas. This year, a 30% raise and a boat-load of credit made the holidays alot easier! Thanks, in part, to CB!!! (I still have a second job, I just don't bust my hump anymore.)

What are you guys spending and more imortantly, what card(s) are you putting it on??? You need not tell the amounts you spent, just what card you used and why you chose that particular one(s).

Happy Holidays!

Tools, great question.

I don't buy presents on credit cards unless I can PIF. Christmas just isn't worth going into hawk over (at least not for me). Back in the day, when I cared what others thought, I'd buy lots of stuff on credit -- and then pay it off over time. I can't do that now. Goes against my religion (hehe).

If you must know, though, I did buy my wife a new car for Christmas. Other than my wife, we have no obligations to anyone else. We get off easy each Christmas. Of the smaller gifts I've bought, they've been going on my Nordy card.

We've actually given more money away this Christmas season to non-family members. We know some people who aren't doing so well this Christmas season. Instead of buying presents for ourselves, we've been giving money to people who need it more than we need it. It's been a great feeling to give to my fellow men (and women).

I only buy for my parents and I put their gifts on my AMEX blue cash, around $800

I plan on paying half when the statement cuts and the other half next month (0% APR)

$400-$500 for both sides of the family and kids (nieces, nephews, etc). Biggest expense was airline tickets... (We're in Denver, so that is IF we can even get out :P )

paid cash for all gifts, and we buy ALOT of gifts. Both sides of the family are very much into holidays. The only thing I charged was nick nacks for my trips back and forth to Walmart and Target and dinner last night in NYC. Used my USAA Amex for that!

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Spent about $900 for my parents, brother and 2 of my closest friends. Split the charges between Juniper UsAirways & my Chase Business cash rebate card.

Already bought myself some nice presents within the last month, including a LCD flat-screen, a PS3 and a Nintendo Wii. That totaled about $1800 :search:

For Maleena (3.5 years):

Dora color tv/dvd combo - $92 on my walmart card
V-Smile - $50 cash
4 games for V-Smile - $20 each, cash
Memory board game - $10 cash
Scented Care Bear - $20 cash

For Camilla (1.5 years):

Scented Care Bear - $20 cash
TMX - $40 cash
Elmo/Cookie Monster 'cell phone' - $10 cash

For Brandan (15 years):

PS2 game - $40 cash
finger boards - $7 cash
2 Yu Gi Oh tins with cards - $10 each, cash
New watch - $8 cash

For Kevin (12.5 years):

2 Gameboy games - $20 each, cash
2 Yu Gi Oh tins with cards - $10 each, cash
finger boards - $7 cash

Combined for Brandan and Kevin:

New PS2 - $130 cash

I still need to get the Wii, so that will be a late Christmas gift. I also got my Grandmother a perfume gift set, and got my mother a new robe and a new watch, paid cash.

I told my husband I didn't want a Christmas gift, because I'd rather spend it on the kids, and he agreed. Knowing I love him and he loves me is the best gift anyhow, and I get that all year long!! :search:

There is a definite advantage to being a dealer and working for tips...I always have cash on hand.

So other than the $92 I put on my Walmart card, there is the $200 I put on my Lowe's card for Christmas decorations for the outside of the house and our yard.

:glare: Well.... no lectures please! Yeah, okay.. :blush2: I went overboard. Almost everything paid off, hefty rewards, 0% interest, normal bills are paid through January already.

DH - I picked up the laptop he wanted plus all of the accessories - 1300 (was 400 off original price)

Son #1 (he's 26) - spent about 450.

Son #2 (he's 23) - spent about 462.

Son #3 (he's 18) - spent about 500 - 600.

DH in addition to the laptop - another 500 - 600.

My Mom - My mom has done a ton of stuff for DH & I over the years, and she always gives, gives, and gives more. She never has had anything NICE so this year DH and I bought her a Sapphire & Diamond Necklace & Earrings set, and my dad bought her the matching ring. Got the entire set at Zales for 500.

Remaining relatives: 300.

New 32" LCD Flat Panel TV - 600. (believe it or not this is the THIRD FRICKIN' YEAR IN A ROW my DH has gotten a TV - I said NO MORE! Last year it was the 52" wide screen)

Current balance left on the rewards cards? About 2400!

-0-% interest until next October! However, it will all be paid off by the end of December or January. I could pull it out of our savings if I wanted, but with the 0% interest, I'm just biding time.

I really wanted to get the Wii - but found it nowhere, so I'll just wait until we pay off this balance and after Xmas go get it somewhere. No biggie.

Have never EVER spent this much!! :blush2:

It doesn't. And prolly shouldn't. Just a poor way to phrase the question I guess. Just wondering about the gifts and what cards used mostly.
