OK, so here's my questions. I defaulted on SL's issued in 1999, and they siezed my tax refund in March 2005 which completely paid it off. They are showing as two tradelines in Equifax and Experian with the following information. Not showing up in TU at all.

DP OF EDUC

Experian Equifax

Account No.: XXXXXX US DE-XXXXXXXXXXXX

Condition: Closed (Paid) Closed

Balance: $0

Type: Educational

Pay Status: Collection/Chargeoff Late 120 Days

Two Year Payment History: Legend >> Shows Experian Only CO in Mar and Apr '05

US DEPT ED

Account No.: XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXX

Condition: Derogatory Derogatory

Balance: $0

Type: Educational Educational

Pay Status: Collection/Chargeoff Late 120 Days

Two Year Payment History: Legend >> Experian shows CO in Jan and Feb '06

They are both for the same loan - I only ever had 1 SL. Why is one showing CO in Feb '06? It was paid from the tax refund they garnished in Mar '05. Shouldn't their status be closed / paid now?

Thanks for your help, I'm just a little confused about the way student loans report. What is my best course of action here for making my credit least impacted by this loan?

Ryan
