denied for Sallie Mae Career loan with 721 fico score

I checked the status of my loan today and saw that it was not approved and had been terminated. I just checked my score two weeks ago and had a 721. I had read that if I had over a 640, I should be ok. I dont have any negative marks on my credit.

 

What went wrong? Could I have made a mistake in the application somewhere? Any way I can get some clues?

It could be employment history - they generally require 2 yrs continuous employment. Or it could be income ... hard to say. Why don't you call them and ask? You may request reconsideration and/or find out if a co-signer would help.

Actually, it turns out that while i was denied the full amount, I was approved for $20,000!

 

However, tuition for the school is $25,900, which means I need another loan

 

I've come across many loan agencies, but everytime I go to apply they don't list my school. What can I do?

Go to your school's financial aid office (or email the financial aid people) and ask for a list of "approved" lenders they accept. Also ask if they have any options you haven't looked into/weren't aware of.

Its a vocational school and as such dont offer federal funding.
