I don't know how people can eat meat rare.

Because we've never developed a taste for shoe leather.

I don't think you are out of line at all.

Nothing wrong with making someone feel better in public, and I'm sure she appreciated it.

And everyone else is right..steamed has nothing to do with what seasoning is on the food, steaming refers to the method of cooking the vegetables.

If he had followed me around and started on me, I'm sorry, I woulda turned around and ripped him a new butthole, pointing out his obvious ignorance and how he perhaps should get the cooking facts straight before opening his mouth.

AND YOU KNOW YOU DON'T LIKE IT HOW???

You must eat (or have eaten in the past) that shoe leather meat type product that comes in plastic bags

(at the checkouts and in the food department)

WHAT REWARDS DO YOU GET FROM THIS CASH STUFF???

"AVAILABLE" is not debt
That credit card fee is TAX DEDUCTABLE (don't MICRO-MANAGE the fee at the expense of paying business)
GOT YOUR 4506-T READY YET??? MEMBERSHIP HAS IT'S REWARDS HAVE YOU BEEN AMEXED???
My ID is the signature on the back of my credit card--AND IT DOES NOT SAY C.I.D.
I have a license to drive a car/truck...it is not a permit to use my signed credit card
DOES KNOWING YOUR SCORE HELP YOU PAY YOUR BILLS???
Don't forget the DOWN-SIDE to using DEBIT CARDS (unintended consequences)
Disputing ACCURATE ADDRESSES can have side effects (LOSS OF POSITIVE ACCOUNTS)
OBAMA-CARE WILL COST HOW MANY $1,000,000,000,000's why can't I opt-out

Op: Your actions were not completely out of line. You shouldn't be ashamed of yourself, except that you probably should have ripped the guy a new poop chute when he harrassed you.

As for rare steak heres the only standout rareness I've ever observed. I was working in a kitchen at a small restauraunt that had steak on the menu, but was not typically a steak house. As such the few steaks on hand were very solidly frozen and only thawed when ordered.

Some guy came in and order his steak rare, so we thawed it, tossed it on the grill, cooked it the typical 3 or so minutes per side and sent it out. Back it comes: too done. So Steak number two gets thawed, cooked for a minute per side and sent out. Too done, try again. Steak three probably still had ice crystals in the center when it got to his table but he ate it, and left the waitress a decent tip. Talk about knocking off the horns and sending it out.

I didn't even mention it to my DH because I was afraid he'd tell me it was none of my business but I hate it when people are unnecessarily mean. So my question is, was I completely out of line here? Should I have just kept my big mouth shut?

Ok - Gotta go w/playthecreditgame here - the comment was directed at him - although indirectly. With that said, I also agree that you could have said something to the woman later. These days and times, you just never know what will set people off, and putting your two cents in isn't always a good idea. I'm sure these people deal with that kinda crap every day. I understand your empathy for the manager, but I do think you should have just MYOB.

What really strikes me out of this thing is the sentence in red - it appears you knew your comment was at least questionable - this could have gotten way out of hand had the man come to your table to "Thank you for your comment" - your hubby would not have known what was going on, an argument could have ensued (between him & the man), etc.

You are absolutely right, but the thought didn't occur to me until after the guy followed me. I didn't even think before opening my big mouth. I guess my mind rushed back 20 years to when I worked at a restaurant and had people complaining about the craziest things! sad.gif

DId I misread it? I thought he was going off on a 19 year old waittress..Not the manager. That he asked for the manager but he was still ranting and raving at the 19 year old when she went back... dntknw.gif

ETA: I re-read and saw that the 19 year old WAS the manager.

What the heck? You'd think they'd make managers of the people who could actually handle errant little boys like this one instead of standing there cowering. I mean yeah she shouldn't have tried to give him a GAB as OC would say..but sheesh....Instead of saying nothing she could have tried to diffuse the situation. dntknw.gif

She did try to diffuse it....he just kept going on and on...."it's misleading, steamed vegetables are jsut that STEAMED S-T-E-A-M-E-D no butter, blah blah blah....."
