You're going to want age, age, and more age. The more TLs you have will probably make it less likely that Citi will do a personal inquiry, but it has become obvious recently that age is the single most important factor to getting high CL approvals without an inquiry.

If I were you I would sit back and do what roasted said - let it age a while. From what I gather you need at least 6mths with a paydex to even start with some of the other stuff. That is of course unless you need some credit cards quickly, in that case you could try the citi cards knowing the CL will be low if you get it.

I think your best bet is to push for CLIs on your HDMC ... You might also want to look into Key and Sams Discover (because you can get those without a PI), but unfortunately you won't get a BT offer with any of these.

Again, though, your success is going to be very dependant on corp and credit age.

I agree with roasted....get a cli with home depot mc since thats pretty easy and try for the sams discover. They will give you increases w/o a personal pull or inquiry.

Out of curiosity, has CB been able to discern what the minimum file "age" is to apply for the Citi lines and receive approvals over 20K? I am pretty sure (i.e. I could be wrong) I have seen a few who are only a few months old (bwdodge) who have been getting lines in excess of 20K but then I know I have read posts where a company that is six years old is still hesitant in pulling the trigger. Just curious if there was a rule of thumb for the big Citi lines.

bwdodge has only been building biz credit for a few months, but his company is ten years old.

Although I really wish that lots of big TLs could influence the Citi magic 8 ball, it appears that the only way you're going to get a $20k+ CL without PI or financials is to have a corp age of least 2-3 years old, and it seems preferable to have 5-10+ years. I'm sure there are exceptions, but unfortunately they are few and in between.

Thank you roasted. It is true. The company for which I've been building credit is my parent's 10-year old business. To date, they've always used personal credit to get what they needed. However, we've learned here from CB, that they don't really have to put themselves out on a financial limb everytime their business needs something. So we decided to try the steps here.

Needless to say, they've worked for us. And, I believe, when someone follows the outlined steps, and more importantly reads how others do it, success for them is only a matter time and patience. I also believe that business-age has a tremendous amount to do with how quickly (and how much) companies are granted terms and credit. Although, our business-age is legitimate, the company itself had no credit whatsoever to speak of until a month ago. Within a year, my parents will have the option to open LOC's to replace company equipment, if, and when, that time comes. However, our first goal was to get gas cards with higher CL's they could use for their fleet of 18-wheelers that transport for them.

Until now, they've used an account at a local station to pay for fuel. That account, though they're very grateful, has never reported to DnB or EX. Therefore, it did them little good in the way of opening other accounts in different areas of the state. Now, building on their credit slowly, of course, they can begin to make plans to transport their products even further.

what about going for AMEX, will they give me a high limit?

You've got to have good personal scores for Amex.

I took the plunge and applied for an AMEX , i had one of my partners PG for the account , his credit isnt too good, but he has 2 amex personal cards that he always behaved with so we got approved

will this biz card report to either dnb or EX?

Nope. It will report to EQ biz, but we don't really know who pulls that except for Lowes and maybe Amex. For D&B and EX you'll need Net 30 and revolving store accounts.
