Well, so I come back into town today to find another peice of mail from Nelnet. Nope not another consolidation advertisment, but statement from them saying they are handling a student loan I have and that is it 121 days late, and that I had until may 1st to send them $250, the letter was dated six days earlier.

Anyways I call them up and the lady tells me they bought my loan from USAMSGS and they just had my updated info as of april this month. I asked her where they have been sending my statements and she said my old address in San Antonio where I have not lived in over 3yrs.

She said they cannot remove the 121 day late from my credit b/c the loan is my responsiblity and I should pay whether or not I am getting statements.

Well, this was a SL I signed for back in 2002 when I was living in San Antonio and was a loan they do not make you pay for until you are out of college.

Is there anything I can do to get them to take off the 121 day late? are they not obligated in someway to try to find my correct info and contact me? My CR has listed my Dallas address for the past 3yrs.

It is YOUR responsibility to keep your creditors updated on your whereabouts, so it was your fault it took so long for them to find you. They will not remove the 120 day late notation from your reports.

Thats kinda what I was afraid of.

Well, there goes my past 4 mos. of hard work to get my score up!

At least I was able to purchse my new car before this reported. What a mixed blessing....
