We have a new forum here and I hope that you posters will find it of great benefit. This forum is designed to provide holders of Federal Student loans a place for information and answers. Federally Guaranteed Student Loans are different than other types of loans and the goal of this forum is to help you to better understand their uniqueness. Here we will explain the similarities and differences in FFELP and Direct Stafford Loans, as well as other older types of Federal Student Loans. What is the difference between subsidized and unsubsidized loans and how do you qualify for each. How it the interest rate calculated. What is default and what can you do to avoid it.

We will also look at consolidation, why should you consolidate and how can you figure what your interest rate will be. What loans will qualify for consolidation and which will not.

We will also provide links to several highly informative sites. Some will deal with consolidation, while others will provide the same information that Servicers use. There are calculators that will allow you to figure what types of payments you can expect to make, and we will show you where to find them. How much do I owe and to whom? We’ll tell you where to find the answers.

Welcome to the Student Loan Forum

Hi fla-tan,

A message popped up on my screen when I replied to a thread from you saying something about me talking about UHEAA and shilling. I could not read the whole message and I don't have messenger service to respond, so I hope this is the best place.

I'm not trying to dupe anyone, if that's what you were saying. I just really hated to see people who are actually trying to work through their debt do the thing that's not best for them. UHEAA has the best consolidation deal out there that I know of. If you know of a better one, please post - I'd love to know! I've already consolidated my loans, but know others who could use the best deal.

In the same way, if I was replying in a savings forum I would send people to Emigrant or ING...not because I have a special deal or I'm trying to dupe someone, but because they have the best rates right now, 3.25% and 2.6% respectively.

I'm not going to recommend different deals...I'm always going to recommend the best deal I know of.

Please let me know if this clears this up for you.

Whether you care to agree with me or not, the bottom line is that you shill for UHEAA in virtually every post in this forum. It does not matter that you do or do not receive anything from them. We do not allow solicitation either directly or indirectly. If you continue to push UHEAA I will have to take a different tack and either suspend your account or take some other action to prevent you from continuing to violate the rules.
