I was part of a local chamber of commerce around four years ago. And One of my jobs in this chamber of commerce was to create a database of companies who provide credit accounts to small businesses. I was looking into my old files and found some companies that provide credit accounts.

I verified some of the old links and infos, made sure that they are still valid.

If you need specific contact numbers to any of these companies, I still have them and wouldn't mind sharing them with credit boards. When I get more time, i'll post some more companies, if anyone is still interested.

I know for a fact that

Continental, USPS, GETTY, JEB Leasing, FTD, 800-flowers, bloomingdales, corporate express, AT&T, Peapod (reports only to Experian), att.com, oakwood, bridgestreet, carey international all report to dun and bradstreet.

carey international is the largest limousine company in the world. They are an exclusive service partner with American Express, for those who have American Express in their war chest.

AT&T reports all payments to D&B, whether its a toll free number, conference call service, and etc.

USPS reports to D&B, united states postal service.

all of them report to D&B, except for peapod, from my knowledge they only report to Experian.

Also, if you seek to have your own corporate apartment, unfurnished. Gables will approve you if you're listed on D&B.

Property Management Companies such as, ING Realty will search through Experian. And as many of us know, most companies report through D&B. Especially, if you just have trade lines.

A CLUE: for those smaller companies who extend credit to businesses, you can ask whether or not they report to D&B. Also, their applications are clear indications whether or not they report to D&B. IF they ask for your DUNS number and etc.

I know for a fact, that D&B offers a service, if you have less than a certain number of clients to report. for $25.00 a month, you can report payment on anyone listed on D&B. So its pretty inexpensive to report companies into the D&B system.

When I was part of this chamber, I dealt mostly with the political side, but with my background in computers; I was able to establish a system for the chamber to properly report member's dues to D&B, as a way to help our member's business credit. And I remember establishing the D&B account, where we can report payments and trade lines and it was pretty inexpensive. $25.00 per month, just to report as many companies as you wished. And a small fee, to pull a company's credit file.

Anyway, I have more companies to list, just need to have time to get them listed.

they don't post this online, but you can call their corporate office and ask about setting up business relationships. Then from there, you can set up business credit

I'm going to post a NEW THREAD with all of the Fortune 500 & 1000 with their corporate office number. Each of these companies have some sort of corporate charge account. Some are distributors, which will be good for companies who need distribution contracts to sell their items and etc.

I will post it soon.

I know this is a noob question, but I'm reading as fast as I can in this forum and three others on CB. How did you get Shell Fleet so easily? Are all these online approvals? How long have you been in business/did you have business trade lines before? I can't figure out how to get Business accounts at many of the places I see others in here listing like Costco, Sams, Walmart, Home Depot. etc.

I just found these direct links to online credit applications/downloads - hope it helps.

Putting together everything that I know ... please let me know if I have listed anything incorrectly. I am going to
verify this information every 30 days for accuracy.

What do I need to start building business credit?

1. Proper paperwork filed for your business entity

2. Business Address:

If you work from home then get a business mailing address from an office suites location like an HQ or Regis Office Suites.
UPS stores are flagged in most lenders systems and do not work anymore. But remember, its ok to work from home.
My business is home based and I did just fine building business credit.

3. Business phone line listed in directory assistance.

This has become a big issue lately with lenders. If you have an office then your perfectly fine.
If you work from home, get an extra line or convert your present line to a business line.
If you use an office suites for your address, add phone answering and ask them to list your line in directory assistance.
They will probably charge you a small monthly fee or a one-time set up charge. The issue here is that
some of the lenders want you to call from the number listed on your application as an additional security check.
Dell is big on this. If you use an office suites address, you can still use your business line that is located in your home,
just have your phone company remove your address from the directory assistance listing , this way it will still show your
company name and phone on the caller ID. Another option is VOIP but some have experienced delays in getting it listed with
directory assistance.

4. DUNS Number

You can call and ask to be listed with DNB or click here for a free number - might take 30 days.
You can get a free number over the phone by stating that you are going to bid for government
contracts by calling this number: 866 705 5711 (Central Contractor Registration - CCR).
Another option is to obtain credit from some of the Starter Accounts listed below and your DUNS number and report
will "self create". This is actually the best way but may take just a bit longer.
REMEMBER: If you are a real business with real customers and obtain real credit from the starter accounts - you will
get a self created file! Most Experian and Equifax files are self created.
It is not recommended that you pay for any type of Credit Builder from DNB. It is a waste of money.

5. Once you receive your Duns number you can apply for your eupdate access. Just go to www.dnb.com/eupdate and
enroll. CAUTION: You should only check your file with DNB once every 2 weeks. If you check it alot, it will throw up
a flag with DNB.

Your next step is to obtain credit from 5 of the tradelines below:

Starter Accounts ( Net 30's To Establish Tradelines)

COMPANY WEBSITE PHONE TERMS REPORTS TO

Quill www.quill.com 800 789 1331 Net 30 DNB / Experian

Comments: General office supplies. They will verify your company with DNB, you don't have to have credit but they like for you to be listed. You may
have to place a small order and pay up front, then they will put you on Net 30 Terms. Some are still getting the first order on terms.

COMPANY WEBSITE PHONE TERMS REPORTS TO

Uline www.uline.com 800 958 5463 Net 30 DNB / Experian

Comments: Sells shipping supplies. Similar to Quill in getting an account. Most are still getting Net 30 terms but if they do ask for payment on the first order, go ahead and place a small order and pay for it. Once you receive it, place a second order and they should allow you to pay by Net 30 Terms. They report rather quickly so its worth it.

COMPANY WEBSITE PHONE TERMS REPORTS TO

Big Apple Outlet www.bigappleoutlet.com 888 951 0006 Net 30 DNB / Experian

Comments: Sells t-shirts with graphics. Reports to Experian very quickly. DNB took about 45 days. You have to place an order and pay for 1/2 of it up front until you pay for a couple of orders. They offer credit line increases with future orders. Easy account to get, reports fast, and you can work your credit line up to $5,000

COMPANY WEBSITE PHONE TERMS REPORTS TO

Majestic Advertising www.majesticadvertising.com 866 963 2881 Net 30 DNB / Experian

Comments: Printers. Business cards, etc. Complete the credit application and place an order within 14 days of approval. I am still in the process of verifying information for this one. A couple of CB'ers have stated that they

Net 30 Starter Accounts Continued:

COMPANY WEBSITE PHONE TERMS REPORTS TO

ATT www.att.com 800 753 8172 Monthly Billing DNB
(Its better to call for the account)

Comments: I added this because its a good reference that will report within 60 days or so. If you are not in the AT&T area, you should ask for a Remote Call Forwarding number from a city that is in the AT&T area forwarded to your line. Set up the account using your business info ( name, address, etc)

COMPANY WEBSITE PHONE TERMS REPORTS TO

Reliable www.reliable.com 800 735 4000 Net 30 DNB

Comments: General office supplies. Has gotten a little harder to get an account with them. If you are in the beginning stages of credit establishment you'll most likely have to pay for your first order and then request terms. I was told that if you had a tradeline or 2 you could get terms right away but most of us here are using them to establish, Reported for me after 60 days.

COMPANY WEBSITE PHONE TERMS REPORTS TO UPS www.ups.com 800 742 5877 Net 30 DNB

Comments: Will have to provide a credit card until credit is established. Takes about 6 months to report.
At one time was a good reference but very hard now to get a billing account.

COMPANY WEBSITE PHONE TERMS REPORTS TO

Fedex www.fedex.com 800 463 3339 Net 15 Unverifiable

Comments: I have a fedex and kinkos account. Neither has never reported for me although in a phone call
verification I was told that they do report to DNB. Could be the lack of knowledge from the CSR.
CB'ers confirm that fedex probably does not report. Another issue with fedex is that you will most likely
have to put a credit card on file for the first few months and then go on net 15 terms.

COMPANY WEBSITE PHONE TERMS REPORTS TO

Grainger www.grainger.com 800 323 0620 Net 30 DNB

Comments: Place order and ask to be invoiced. I had to pay the first order upfront but the nextone they
put on terms. Some have gotten terms on first order.

I left the net 30's on here that do not report so that no one has to ask about them.

If you pick 5 of the best ones here and place an order then pay the invoice on time, you should develop a paydex score within 60 days, however, be patient. Sometimes it can take longer.

Also - a comment on the day that you discover that you now have an 80 Paydex:

DO NOT APPLY IMMEDIATELY! YOU WILL GET DENIED!

Make sure that you wait until you have a full 5 tradelines showing. You may see a paydex with 3 tradelines but Wait Wait Wait!!!!

When you have 5 tradelines - wait one more week before applying for any of the next level of accounts. You file has to be completely updated and thru all of the systems for a creditor to see the full report.

For those who don't know - DNB updates early Sunday morning.
You should check your eupdate after 10:00 AM. As stated before - check it every 2 weeks and no more.

(Will be adding more info soon...)

Hi

Just to let you know that I'm a Newbie and just used Donnaneedscredt's info to apply fir credit using my duns number at Franklyn Covey. ;) I ordered some pages all they needed was phone number, fax number, shipping number, email if you want an invoice/statement and you had a billing choice to 1. Choose a 4 digit pin, 2. Use a purchase order number or 3 have a hard copy order faxed.

I chose the pin# and got an order number and customer number for future orders. I wanted to share right away because I was told that the corporate billing option is about to change drastically. As of June 1st 2009 they will no longer bill on orders less than $500.

Once I get the statement and shipment I'll let you know the terms.

Thanks again Donna!

I have a btq in nyc and found a vendor who offers huge credit on new business and reports to DnB quickly. Asked for my duns number, got back to me within 3 hours and gave me a 10K 30 net account. I placed an order and within weeks it landed on my duns file. Amazing!! just email them and ask to open up business account. They will ask you why you want to open account. say it is for employee incentives or client gifts.

Also, try Macys. I just opened an account with them last week. no PG at all. I haven't seen them repoprt as yet but it hasn't even been a month since I placed my order. will keep everyone posted.
