I chose to write a collector that holds my defaulted loan to not call me.

I sent 2 letters requesting they do not call. I believe they are allowed 1

phone call after my request to not call. Are they allowed one completed call?

The phone rings but I do not get it.( Caller ID)The one time I talked to the

collector I was so upset I almost ended up in the mental hospital.I know they

received the letters. Return receipt requested. So.. are they allowed one more

completed call? I don't want to answer though. They have upset me too much!

Thanks

When you request that a CA not call you, they are allowed one more completed call to let you know that they have received your letter. Until you answer the phone, they will continue to call.

However, you will not be able to negotiate to the best of your ability if you do not talk to them on the phone. Dealing with a CA on a SL is the ONLY time I recommend talking to a CA on the phone. You will be unable to negotiate rehab with them through the mail.

Thanks TxQuiltGirl,

I have already sent 2 letters not to call. The first letter they received and made another completed call, to tell me they received the letter. So.. they

are calling me after the completed one call. I sent another letter and they are

still trying to call.

I tried to neogotiate but they refused to lower the amount. I chose to consolidate instead. It is like trying to talk with a car salesman. I was

treated like I wasn't even human. I feel that because they are on a commission

with my loan status they will lie to get what they want. And that is what

they did. Making me believe their is a down payment and there is no such thing

as the contingent program by Direct Loans.(William D. Ford)

The (collectors) seem to get a kick out of not taking a offer. I hear this

a lot.

They could be calling you to tell you there is a problem with your consolidation application. When I was collecting, I had access to the notes area of the WDF computer system, and often I would pick up on errors or incomplete applications. WDF will not call you...they will return it or just let it sit. Also, are you in repayment? Seems to me that in order to qualify for WDF you have to be in some sort of repayment.

Thanks LynnInMN,

No, the collector does not have my application. I am in the process of

thinking if the contingent program would work for me. I have a difficult

situation. I only receive child support. I have not worked for 20 years

due to ill health-but unable to get 100% total disability. The collector wants

me to give large payments. I cannot do that. So.. I have 2 loans. One is with

one collector and one is with another. One collector claims I can enroll

with the contingent program and the other collector claims I cannot. I have

not made any payments for a long time on the loans. I thought WDF bought

defaulted loans but I do not know if you have to be in some repayment before hand. They do ask for 3 timely payments bfore they figure out your payment

plan regarding your income. I really don't know what to do because I am

close to being homeless.

Is it worth it to try filling out the financial status application and write

my income and request to pay $ $20.00-$25.00 a month? I would rather rehab.

my loans. In the contingint program my repayment charge is 0 because I

am low income and child care is excempt. Why is it so hard to get a fair

reasonable payment plan?

I also remember you wrote and claimed doing the WDF application online is

best. (instead of mailing)

Thanks
