Information from NADA Title & Registration Textbook 2004

 

Delaware Sales and Use Tax Applicable to Registration

 

None - Vehicle Document Fee at the rate of 2.75% of the full purchase price LESS the amount allowed for Delaware registered TRADE-IN vehicle or LESS the sale of a Delaware registered vehicle if sold privately and sold within 60 days of the titling date of the new vehicle purchased. Credit for a vehicle sold privately may be applied for by using the MV 347 form – Document Fee Credit/Refund Application at the time of titling the new vehicle. Fees paid at time of titling to the DMV. NON-RESIDENT not required to pay Document Fee if the vehicle is to be titled in another state. If NEW RESIDENT has titled/registered the vehicle and paid a similar fee or tax in previous state within the last 90 days, CREDIT IS ALLOWED. Proof must be provided. MILITARY PERSONNEL are not exempt.
