I posted this link in another thread. Unless, I read the article wrong. Merchants can no longer ask to see credit or debit cards at all. So showing ID is now moot.

 

What is the point of asking for ID if the consumer can't show the credit or debit card to the merchant? I wonder how that going to work with car rentals & hotels reservations.

That is going to be a pain to figure out who technically can & can't ask to see the card. I didn't say legal because it is not a legal issue.
