hello Mike, I have 2 questions...

1)is there a listing or rule of thumb of what will qualify as a restaurant? ie will going to a fast food chain or some random take out joint give 5% points

2)can I redeem my points to pay federal student loans not held by Citi on a 1 point->1 penny ratio?

thanks!

2) YES, you must call. $25 (2500 points) MUCH better than the $0.005/point for statement credits! <_<

Mike!

I have a Citi Secured Card question. I know that you cannot tell me the requirements for the card, but I hate to waste an inquiry.

I have the $5k ready to go to apply. Is this card more of a rebuilder, or a builder card? I am interested in getting in with Citi and getting this card, however I do have some derogatory information that is on my credit report and is roughly a year old.

Thanks!

Nathan

Sorry for delay on the follow up here. As you know, I can't make any guarantees regarding an approval, say anything that would discourage you from applying for a Citi card, or share our propritary lending criteria (I know, I know, I'm no fun at all :glare: ). If you read the terms/conditions for our secured card, you will notice that we do say something specifically about bankruptcies, so you should review that. That aside, I'm told by Citi colleagues that this card can be for "rebuilding", as well, even though we position as "building". Sorry to be so cryptic, hope this helps a bit.

Regards,

Mike, Citi

If I recall correctly, and I did not read this whole thread to see if someone else posted this... I recall a few years ago we had an in-depth look into the Citi Secured card. Seems like at that time, they were much more strict on approvals - especially if you had a previous Citi / Citibank account that "went bad"... (charge-off, BK, etc..).

I thought there used to be a pinned thread about the card and it may include those old posts. Whether those experiences are relevant today or even helpful is unknown. However, I would search and read the old posts say if you are concerned before pulling the trigger. Citi is probably a better secured card to have than many others truthfully...

Either way, good luck!

Hey folks, hope everyone is well. I was expecting to get a few questions today about checking account fees....... :)

If you have a minute take a look at a thread started yesterday titles: 'Citibank is next with a new banking fee!!!'

Let me know if there are any comments/questions.

Thx,

Mike

You offer checking account in the grand ol state of michigan? Wayne county to be exact? Whats the fees? Do you hard pull or just soft? Thanks Mike!

Why is there a sticky on this card when it has been discontinued?

The card is still available for students.

But that isn't the point of this thread. The student card was was covered in another thread.

My target point is that this thread could fall from the stickies list and clean up the forum just a bit.

You might remember that tone and intent doesn't transfer well through the written word on an internet forum.

Intended or not, I read the question as demanding and just a little rude. I don't recall seeing that kind of interaction with you previously, which is why I answered as simply as I did. And why Marv answered as blithely as he did.

There is a rumor thread on one of the other sites that Citi is about to start converting Forwards to ThankYou Preferred. I really hope it's not true since none of the other cards really match the benefits. I think if they do PC me to ThankYou Preferred, I'll probably cash out my points and PC to DoubleCash. I may get a ThankYou card later, but I'd want the signup bonuses and stuff anyway.

Thankyou preferred is about as useless as the dividend flavor...

It is NOW. But for the first 12 months I had it, it was by far the best card I've ever had. RIP :cry2:
