Hey folks, hope everyone is well. I was expecting to get a few questions today about checking account fees....... :)

If you have a minute take a look at a thread started yesterday titles: 'Citibank is next with a new banking fee!!!'

Let me know if there are any comments/questions.

Thx,

Mike

Mike, what's the process for downgrading From The Citibank Acct to the basic? Can it be done through secure message? Over the phone? Do I have to go into a branch?

The letter I got says it's effective starting with statement periods after November 10, so if my statement ends on November 23...do I need to change at that time to avoid the $20 fee? Or can I do it earlier in the month of November? I don't want to switch to early and get hit with a fee for whatever the current requirements are for basic checking.

Hello tjguitar! I want to put you in touch with someone who can answer all of your questions and take care of things over the phone. We've got a great team set up to do this. Send me a PM/email with your contact info and best time to call, and I will have someonereach out to you.

Thx!

Mike!

I have a Citi Secured Card question. I know that you cannot tell me the requirements for the card, but I hate to waste an inquiry.

I have the $5k ready to go to apply. Is this card more of a rebuilder, or a builder card? I am interested in getting in with Citi and getting this card, however I do have some derogatory information that is on my credit report and is roughly a year old.

Thanks!

Have you checked the "preapproval" thread? Some card companies have special pages where you can check to see if they'll consider you for one of their cards.

qwerty4, I know "I'm sorry" doesn't cut it, but I'll apologize nonetheless for this terrible servicing experience. You deserve better. I'm going to send you a PM so we can continue the conversation and get this stuff resolved.

regards,

Mike, Citi

A big thank you to Mike. Murphy's law was in full force, as I encountered many different issues, but everything seems to have been resolved. I think everything could have been resolved faster, but I

1) travel quite a bit and

2) only engaged Mike when I was at an impass with regular lines of support.

I know what it is like to work for a large company. Things do go wrong from time to time, and I cannot be more pleased by the level of support and service provided. Bottom line, a huge thank you to Mike, his wonderfully friendly/helpful team, and Citi for the assistance.

Mike,

Good to see you are on the best credit forum around.

When I was in college a few years ago I received a letter from Citi with a rate jack. I did the natural thing and opted out not realizing I was losing my largest limit card. Is there anyway for Citi to reinstate an account that was closed 3 years ago? I called a CSR right after I opted out and they told me my choice was final. Any hope for me or just start hoping for a limit increase on my smaller cards?

Mike hasn't been here for about 3 weeks. I think he posted his email address so folks could contact him directly. I imagine he makes the rounds if he's the social networking rep for citi. Maybe we could lasso him and tie him to the CB servers. :D

Just wanted to let you fine folks know that Citi will pull another CRA report if you call in and ask them. They pulled Experian for me initially, but its on ice. I called in and asked that they pull Equifax. The CSR put me on hold for a few minutes came back and said we pulled your Equifax report and will get back to you in 7 to 10 days with the results. I checked EQ and they did pull it. Since tomorrow is a holiday, I'll wait until Friday to call in again and see if they have any results.

Hopefully, they'll approve me. My score is 767, no baddies, all accounts paid as agreed w/no lates ever. I do have 3 new accounts, but my salary should be able to get me at least a $5,000 card. We'll see!

CreditNate, I apologize it's been about a month since I've been here. But, I want everyone to know I am always available at michael.cardace@citi.com or customer.help@citi.com

From looking at our secured card detailed page on www.citicards.com, it's defintiely positioned as "builder" card. But, let me send a few emails internally and see what I can uncover.

Again, I'm sorry I left you here so long!!! Happy holidays.

Ctownintegra, hello, and happy belated Thanksgiving!

Has your card already expired? Please send me an email, and I will look into this for you. I know everyone's first reaction after a rate increase is to opt-out, pay down the balance at the old interest rate, and be done with the card, but it's important to weigh the longer term implication of not having the card at all [if that's something that's important to you].

There are certain cases like this where we have been able to help, but I will need more information from you. You can email me or send a PM. Please *don't* include any account numbers or specific account information. Just send your name, phone#, and best time to call.

Regards,

Mike, Citi

qwerty4, a very belated "thank you" for the shoutout. It's very much appreciated. One thing I think a lot bout is that customers of any company shouldn't have to resort to public social channels to get the help/attention they need. Social Media channels should be just be another way to connect with someone and get great service. The level of service shouldn't change from phones to secure email, etc. All that being said, there will always be some examples where servicing didn't go right, and it's my/our job to identify these and constantly get better.

Thank you for the opportunity to communicate here. I really value it.

Take care,

Sorry for delay on the follow up here. As you know, I can't make any guarantees regarding an approval, say anything that would discourage you from applying for a Citi card, or share our propritary lending criteria (I know, I know, I'm no fun at all :glare: ). If you read the terms/conditions for our secured card, you will notice that we do say something specifically about bankruptcies, so you should review that. That aside, I'm told by Citi colleagues that this card can be for "rebuilding", as well, even though we position as "building". Sorry to be so cryptic, hope this helps a bit.

Mike, Citi

Happy Holidays to you! I fixed you up with a signature that has your contact info in it. :) We'd be happy to put a Citi logo there, if you'd like.

FWIW, it took 2 weeks but my application was decisioned with an approval for 15K. I was worried I would get a low limit since low limits seem standard for this product. 15K is enough for me to work with. Now I just have to remember to spend enough for the 50K bonus TYP. :)

I just applied for and was approved for a Citi Forward card for 3.5k in step 3 of 5 of the application process. While I was setting up a balance transfer, my power went out, and I did not get to complete step 4 and 5 of the application process. Should I worry about not completing the last 2 steps for balance transfer(probably not), and "other features/options"? I called Citi and said that they cannot access new accounts for 2-3 days after they are created. Just wait it out? I'm still surprised I was approved after being denied for CLI on my Diamond Preferred card with a lower limit on it.
