I was declined for an account due to too many chex systems inquiries. Oh well.

How many Chex inq's did you have? How many recent ones?

Also, does anyone know how fast Chex inq's show up? Is it instant like the major CRAs? Might there be a grace period of even a few minutes? I don't know how to monitor Chex in real time so I have no clue about this.

I spoke to the manager and she said it was Chex systems

For a CU that doesnt pull Chexsystems, they have denied two people so far due to Chexsystems. :dntknw:I hope I am not number three!

Speaking specifically to ChexSystems: The last time i wasted my time in a "Open up an account get $100" bank was Cooper Savings Bank on N High St in Columbus, Ohio (Clintonville.) I had "4" entries; two from two banks, savings and checking. I did not catch the reason. They were from 2006, possibly early 2007. Three months before this, Chase had told me, on their form: "No account available." So the last time I have had ANY sort of activity was 2009 with Chex; used the non-Chex check ordering site to get more checks, had an oddball bank since 2008 not going in for anything, and the bad SHOULD be 2007 at the latest.

I join Repairerer as "Chex guinea pig" here (her words, not mine.)

Again: For a CU that is "Chex-friendly" and does NOT pull ChexSystems.. TWO people have been denied thus far for it.

I also have not heard anything back the "Applicaiton confirmation" Email. Seems a bad omen. I would LOVE to have a Secured CC through this CU in May for $1000. I could skip Capital One altogether. This is why I apped! No new INQs, either. I also use my checking account on a weekly basis or so.

Do you think my Chex experiences will get me showt down? Shall I try Inova before I even hear back? Thoughts?

Wow... I have to say this experience so far has been first class. So I got an email from a "direct contact" yesterday and didn't think much of it, until I got another one today and then a phone call. I decided to return the call and it went to voicemail but was called back immediately. The person was very nice and asked me about my intentions for the CU, what my goals are, if I had any questions. She put a note on her calendar to call me back once the new credit card products are available. Me likey. :good:

It looks like the customer service rep, Cameron, I spoke with last night was WRONG. I just received an email - denied for chexsystems. :cry2:

At least it wasn't a hard inquiry on a credit report and I still have NFCU and my home bank :) LOL

And what does your Chexsystems landscape look like?

Wait until you get an answer. I don't think Invoa CU is any good.

The CU is supposely rebuilder friendly. I don't remember seeing the OP posted anywhere that the CU was 'chex-friendly' anywhere. So I dont know where you may have gotten that from. One thing to add though. I'm sure I have quite a few chex inquiries myself, and have not been turned down by ELFCU...yet. DCU did not like my chex inquiries when I applied a few weeks back. But I had no issues with a couple of other CUs I joined around the same time I applied for DCU. I guess it varies from CU to CU on what they see as excessive inqs.

I probably have 15 inquiries in the last 4 months. I don't know how long Chex systems keeps a record of them. It's a shame to get denied from too many inquiries but I'm proud to say psecu and usaa accepted me without any problems.

Where do you get the member number? I got an email that said I was approved but nowhere did it mention a member number only a person number and I know that doesn't work to set up online access. I don't want to further overwhelm the customer rep right now and I am guessing it will come in the welcome packet?

Thanks Gaby. I will look again. I have read the posts as they were updated but must have missed it :)All I saw was people calling. I remember people saying they received a call so I am guessing that is when it happens but I will check back through to be sure since I haven't gotten my phone call yet.

Denied :cry2: Chex is the reason and an email was sent with the adverse action notice... Oh well, guess our 2 local CU's and BOFA will have to do for now.

Thanks! That's a good datapoint.

Chex keeps inquiries for 3 years. I'm not sure how long they count against you, but it's safe to assume newer ones are worse than old ones.

I couldn't resist... I just applied with 8 Chex inqs (5 in the last year) and got accepted. I probably shouldn't have pulled the trigger because I'm planning on 3 more CUs in May... I hope the extra inq won't cause trouble then.

Congrats on PSECU. :good: That's a CU I' wish I could join. But I'm not in PA and I missed the boat. :(

I picture a big meeting with the advertising execs with the president asking what advertising was instigating the surge of applications.

Only 3 in the last year but 9 total (as of my report from January)... I am on chex for "account abuse" in 2007 for an old account with US Bank tho.
