It's relative. $80 might not be much to you for a number on a piece of paper, but others might rather invest, save, or buy themselves something. It could also be a phone bill, groceries, etc. Griping about the price might not do them any good, but I would fault that instead of demeaning the value of a $20. Also, if there's one place to complain about a product, I would say its the site/forum run by that company. Using the fact that they have available credit as a reason to spend it is not a responsible argument either.

But since we aren't on MF I'll add this - It's unfortunate that these scores are not freely available to the very consumers they affect. You are forced to pay for it from the same companies that "generate" them and already charge lenders for them. Otherwise you have to get denied for credit or be fortunate enough to be a member of a select few credit unions or credit cards to obtain them for free. Just like credit reports are now, I predict scores may too be free someday in the future.

Hopefully this will be in the NEAR future. It doesn't make sense that we can't see what our scores are before we get denied credit rather than after.

Be nice, now, we don't do board wars. :D Let others be the jerks if that's what they choose, CB will take the higher ground.

I will diplomatically speak up as to why myFICO is a bad board.

TannerK, a member there, posted about having all kinds of extravagant cards, but only making $34k a year. Then he suddenly said he was making a half a million dollars a year. He claimed to have gotten a Centurion card just by asking. People here on CB KNOW him personally, and KNOW he is full of it.

I, a long term, well contributing member of those forums, called him out on it. The mods deleted my posts. I called him out on it again, the mods protected him, despite me sending immeasurable proof in PMs, from FlyerTalk (about Centurion approvals), from here, proving why his centurion pictures were fake, and that people knew him, etc...

The myFICO forum moderators, and Barry, the administrator, knowingly and willingly defended the liar, and banned me, a long time contributor, because I was "flaming" and violating the TOS, in their mind. The administration of myFICO banned a user from telling the truth for the sake of protecting a KNOWN liar.

I wasted time there, dealing with moderators that always laid low, and blamed people for trying to help keep the community an HONEST place. I'm sure that the mod squad here would not stand for a proven, repeated liar to post, would they? I got no response but disrespect for trying to keep the boards there clean and reputable, but they'd rather let the liar run loose. (Word is he is friends with a moderator there).

Long story short, I'm glad to see this thread, I want to thank CB for having a much better, much more sane atmosphere to discuss credit topics, because while I was initially saddened to be banned from myFICO, I think I will get over it and make new friends here in a much better place to discuss credit.

TL:DR, myFICO protects liars and bans long-term users of the site for trying to call out said liars.

Well, yes, but the story of a kid with a Centurion that bought a car with and and subsequently claimed he got FR'ed. The entertainment value alone!

I don't think honesty is one of their tos. Some of this stuff could be highly entertaining here as well like the guy that wanted advice about how to take off for China after fleecing his CC issuers. Without violating laws, of course. Promised to be highly entertaining as well but Breeze closed the thread. Pesky tos.

I know. I hate it when ethics and standards get in the way of my playtime.

Thanks!

That is probably the truest statement I could see to describe the place. Mods would dance around topics all the time, and it was amazing how they had sheep convincing everyone to rush and buy a FICO score every time they asked a question.

I really only go there for additional data points. They don't seem to know too much about how credit works. I did go over and check out your latest showdown re: TannerK, though... the mods have really gone off on you! laugh.gif

Anyone with an ounce of sense or knowledge about these matters knows the kid is a fraud. But I guess he fits the "fantasy profile" of the posters over there, and they want to believe him because they want to think that one day that could be them. Sad.

I dared.

Him and Lexie were easily the most pain in the flowers mods on that forum. Shogun at least gave you a heads up before sending a lightning bolt up your flowers.

MyFico.com has made a ton of money off people from this forum so they should not have a policy for their own forum that prohibits links to this site, which gives them a huge amount of free advertising. How many posts are there from members here telling others to get their scores from MyFico.com and nowhere else? MyFico should love this forum! Maybe it's just the mods there that hate Creditboards.

I agree, its kind of dumb of them to ban the OP

that said, as a NYG fan; I just threw up in my mouth after agreeing with ya LOL
