 I'm Kelly and I am here to repair my credit so hubby and I can buy a home in the next 5 years.

Some friends of ours payed $3k for their credit to be repaired. I got a referral to their guy but I got the push to try it on my own first and I'm happy I was referred to this forum.

Hi all! First off, thank you all so much for this abundance of information! Although, it is a little overwhelming. I wasn't the most financially resposible young adult, but now that I'm a tad bit older I'm looking to improve my credit. I printed out a credit report and noticed a couple charge off accounts from CAs. I've been reading about validation and verification and also delete for payment letters. I guess my questions are: Should I first send a verification letter to CRAs to make sure it is accurate? Also, can I put all collection accounts in the same letter? If that is what I should start with, should I then send delete for payment letters to the CAs? I know when I've gotten collection letters in the past they offer to settle the account for less than the original debt, can I use a similar amount when negotiating in a delete for payment letter?

Thank you all so much! Let me know if there is any other information I missed or if you have any tips!!

Hey There Everyone!

I am new here but unfortunately not that new to the credit repair process. I have gone through it once before and now find myself 7 years later going through it again. But no matter what I am not going to give up; I'm going to fight this battle & win and NEVER enter this Battlefield again!! :)

I look forward to sharing my journey here on CB. :)

Hello. Just signed up for creditboards.com today and look forward to digesting all the great information. Working on some credit repair and understanding more how the process works. Had some issues with investment properties that went bad and are now on my credit.

Thanks and look forward to reading more and posting.

Hi all,

Just wanted to say thanks for the wealth of information. I'm looking forward to this process.

My scores are currently in the high 500s and I'm going to attempt to have them in the mid 600s

by the end of the summer. My plan is to purchase a new home and I'm being told I'll need scores

in the 640 range to do so. Thanks again and I'm looking fwd to the journey.

I joined this forum approximately a month ago, and I've been pretty busy reading and doing the following:

Opted out of new cc offers.

Deleted old addresses.

Read psycho doc.

Browsed over FCRA and FDCPA.

Triaged all my credit reports.

Sent out numerous letters to OC's and CRA's.

Have filed small claim court cases against two OC's, awaiting April trial dates.

Have opened two new CC's, one non-secured with HSBC $320 credit limit and one secured with Capital One, $1000.00 dollar security deposit.

Sent the forms to the IRS to remove a paid federal lien, and they've responded and informed me that it's in the process of being removed.

Tried to contact the state of Massachusetts but they're not as cooperative.

I joined USAA credit Union and I've been doing daily pulls for almost month.

I'm very happy to be a part of this site and I feel that I'm on the right track to repairing my credit. I wasted the last year at a "credit repair" company until I realized that they weren't doing anything for me except to continuously disputing everything on my report. They did end up removing a few negatives for me but I've removed more on my own, with the help of this site, than they did in an entire year.

My current credit scores from the FAKO reports that I receive through USAA are 609 Experian, 576 Equifax, and 609 Transunion, however, about a month ago I got a FICO report through a bank that showed my real score was 643. I also expect my scores to increase more over the next month because of the above things that I've done.

The question that I have, is what route should I take to attempt to remove "settled" charge offs? Approximately three years ago, through my inexperience and naivete, I settled three CC accounts with collection agencies without negotiating a "pay for deletion". However, the CA's are not listed on any of my credit reports, the OC's are. What, if anything, can I do?

I messed up already! I should have posted my most recent post here. But I'm glad to be back on the boards.

I opted out today.

And marked the calender 3 weeks from now to start addressing the addresses issue.

 Hello All,

First off congratulations to all of us on taking the initiative to redeem our credit and become more responsible with debt. I see only success on the horizon. I am actually new to CB as well and can hopefully awesome results with all the great information on this forum.

I am a 24 year old with a great career and drowned in a lot of petty scattered debt. I admit I have been SUPER irresponsible with my credit and am now paying the consequences. I am looking to purchase a home in 2-3 years and hoping I can get most of my CR clean and establish new and better credit. Becoming a mom last year has been the best thing to ever happen to me... it has made me realign priorities and set long term goals versus the short term ones I was accustomed to.

Any advice or information throughtout your process would help me tons being that I can identify myself with similar issues. Thank you all again for all the great info. And I look forward to reading all your success stories :yahoo:
