Ugh, tried the UW number for Walmart & JcPenney, both denied and no counter offer All GE accounts are PIF...thought they'd at least counter. Have had the JCP card 7 months w/perfect payments, scores are better now. I'm wondering if part of it is high util still reporting. Would it be worth trying again once all balances update? Right now Walmart is reporting 41/500, JcP reporting 113/300, Lowes reporting 310/500 and Old Navy reporting 160/300. All balances are actually 0. NFCU accounts are reporting high balances and should update in a day or 2 to 0/1000 and 500/5000.

It's definitely worth trying again! I'd probably wait til all but one revolving accounts report $0, and the reporting account shows ~1% (if that's pracical for you) - it's a good practice before any credit request.

 

You might want to wait and see what your denial letters say. Take them with a grain of salt of course (and don't forget they're good for a free TU report!).

 

But actually, just calling back and getting a different underwriter might work even if nothing changes. Personally, I would call back every time your TU report improves or after each statement closes until you get CLIs. Then after you get one, call again every 4 months + 1 day.

When you called, did you ask for both accounts or did you call for one and then called for the other?

Called one and then called back for the other. Got the denials in the mail all stating not enough experience at current limit. I expected that for Walmart, but JCP card is nearly 8 months old. Walmart 4th statement is due to come out on 3/5, would it be better to wait a few days or try now? All GE accounts are at 0 and WM is reporting $41/$500. TU is at 708 YAY FINALLY in the 700 club...well with TU only lol, but still

Good stuff! I'll be looking for the same in June. I think around $1,000 would be a nice first CLI since I'm having to pay more than once a month to stay under the pathetic $400 I'm at now.

Which one did you try? I'm hoping JCP...

 

I know you want those new limits to report right away, but if you didn't do Wally's yet it's definitely better to wait til that 4th statement cuts. If you tried Walmart and got turned down you should try again as soon as it closes! PIF first if possible.

 

Anyway, congrats on the CLI! Don't forget to mark your calendar at 4 months +1 day.

The 4th statement for WM cuts on the 5th, I was hoping that calling the UW would produce better results as I was 1/2 expecting an auto cli....Old Navy did an auto cli of $100 on 4th statement date just over a week ago. I can't complain, it's all been positive progress. I think the new limit with WM should report by the end of next week. Planning to wait a few weeks and then try Lowes, or is JcP better? Have had JcP for 8 months...no auto cli and no UW cli either

Oh, I misread your post. I thought the Walmart $41/$500 was your only reporting balance and since you are grooming your FICOs for a mortgage app... thought maybe you intended to keep it.

 

Anyway, if it's been more than 4 months you might as well do Lowe's now too! I bet you'll get something, and if not it's no loss - you can just try again next month.

 

Strangely, the different GE accounts don't seem to affect one another. AFAIK, even a huge CLI on one doesn't reduce your chances for CLIs on the others. It's completely different from, say, Barclays, where they will only give a max total limit across all accounts (so you have to decide which card to request a CLI on).

Yep, March has been good so far. All done with cli's and applications for at least 4 months, my trigger happy finger needs to slow down.

So i decided to try my luck a few minutes ago... I was increased from $2500 to $10000, which is what I asked for.

 

The lady said she would have to pull a copy of my report, so i'm standing by to see which one she HP'd if any (i already did my pulls for today!)

No issues with getting Amazon, Paypal, and Lowes all up to $25,000. It did take a few calls and steps along the way but some reps are much better than others.

Congrats ! Lowes is pretty generous.. I am up to $10k - which is the most I'm told I can get without talking to an u/w... I just wanted something high enough so when I put a large appliance purchase on it, it doesn't kill my utilization, I love keeping mine around 5-10% max
