Just called about my Virgin America decline... nice man went threw a slew of questions... (I know he pulled additional bureaus but not sure how).

He approved for $500.00

So how many HARDS did that $500 "COST"

Possibly two... I'm still new to CCT, so I can't tell if it's hard or soft... Only 1 alert was issued, but I see the other INQ.

Thank goodness for *B

If you see it on CCT or any other third party daily monitoring site it is a hard inquiry. The only way to see your softs are directly from the CRAs.

Just got off with the first number listed. VERY nice lady answered the phone, asked a few questions, pulled my report and gave me a CLI of 750 bringing my card to 2500. She said to use the card, pay ontime and call back in 3 months and i'll get another increase. Not bad for a 5 minute phone call!

Congras johnjay...wish I'd gotten your lady. The guy I talked to would not give me a CLI so for now I'm stuck at $750. I will try again in 3 months.

I called yesterday (weird, it was actually before I saw this thread) about my Carnival SeaMiles account I applied for - the day I went Kona - I SWEAR I am KONA now.

The girl asked me a bunch of questions, such as:

1. Why did I have late payments on my car

2. How much have I been paying per month towards my revolving debt

3. Why do I have a few recent inquiries on my credit report - and was I approved for those cards

She was SO nice. Anyways, I got approved for a $500 limit. She said that PIF is the best method, and to call back in 3-6 months for an increase.

Rock on. FREE CRUISE, here I come. :) Ha ha.

I actually got this card because I DO cruise often (I go on 1-2 per year) and you get double points for the cruises and what you spend on board. I am planning to use this card JUST for vacations. It might take me 100 years to get a free cruise!

Wow, very quality post. Thanks. I applied for an LLbean Barclays card and was denied a month ago due to high utilization, past collections and charge offs. Saw this post today and recon’d the first number. I was worried about high utilization, but Customer Service rep looked up my name verified, income, address, job title, and employer. Came back and asked about repo in 2004 and a few charge offs in 2004. Told her balances were paid but didn’t reflect on report and repo was voluntarily due to loss of job. She approved a $1K limit. I buy my kids winter jackets from LLbean so its perfect timing.

I had delta AMX that got shut down in Dec 2008 and BOA is balance chasing me as they decreased my limit by $500 right after I made a payment. The battle continues….

Thanks CB.

I didn't get a chance to call friday but did check status online and it showed denial because of "high util, low num of satisfactory accts, and insufficient credit history".

Going to try recon tomorrow morning..think I have a shot? another hard puill?

hard to say about another pull, but IMHO still worth the recon. (owing in part to the B* on TU)

thanks hedge...thats what I was thinking..I think its worth it. Second opinions are great. I should be able to get somewhere with the reasons they gave. util is under 8%..and I have new positive tl's reporting.

Sorry for the delay in responding (I was on vacation) but there was no additional hard pull for me, either, when I called for recon. I seem to remember, perhaps somewhere buried in this thread, that someone said Barclays can access the original app and report for 90 days. And, George, even if there had been and additional hard, I would gladly have taken the hit for a $2,500 credit line with no AF, not to mention the free VirginAtlantic ticket I've already earned by using the card.

Woo hooo, called the magic number this morning because of a denial on Saturday. Spoke with a nice lady, went over a couple of basic questions. Approved for $1500! She said a CLI is in the future, just want to see me make timely payments. First approval in a long time. Got the Priceline card.

Congratulations, dmdusn! :yahoo:

I'd like to have this card just to have a little Shatner in my wallet.

Stefang31, two months of hooter history is pretty early. I'd let the card report for at least six months and then apply again. You'll probably get an auto-decline at first, but call the number again and see if they'll reconsider.

Great number! DW was denied in October due to excessive inquires. Decided to call since seeing this thread. Lady picked up right away and DW asked for reconsideration. She had 3 inquires due to mortgage shopping. The rep asked a couple basic questions and then after a long hold came back with some Lexis Nexis type questions. What dept store do you have? What street did you used to live on? What major credit cards do you have? Who is your DH? blah blah blah. So after that, DW was transferred to the security dept to verify more info. After answering more questions, she said the last part was because we our address was different than what was on the credit report (since we just bought a house). So after that she was approved for a $1000 BJs card.

Thanks again CB!

Hello Everyone,

I was approved on Nov 21st for the iTunes reward Visa intially for the CL of $500 :clapping:...I still haven't received the card yet(mailed on Nov 30th) but I mustered up the courage anyway this morning to ask for CLI. I answered a few questions and the rep used my initial TU report. At first he said he could do $1100 but I convinced him to up it to $1500. I am rebuilding my credit after a divorce. Thanks guys for your stories and feedback. If I had not read this thread I would not have called for the increase this is why I love this forum. My score at the time was 680 on TU.
