If Zimmerman wins, a civil suit cannot be filed against him for killing Trayvon.

If he gets a favorable "stand your ground" ruling under the current law it would be true, but I'd expect it to go to the Supreme Court.

If it's "not guilty by self defence" then he might be sued, but in a perfect world that would assume that sufficient evidence exists to convince a jury it was self defence, so a civil jury would face the same thing.

 

 

Stand Your Ground eliminated the duty to retreat in Florida. It doesn't matter if Zimmerman was standing his ground or not. A person who is deemed to have acted in self-defense is immune from civil suits in the case.

 

 

 

Why would this case go to the Supreme Court?

As I said earlier in this thread, after you've lied to one judge, others take notice, so I doubt this is going to help him much.
