I wouldn't sign it. If it gets stolen not only does the thief have your credit card, but they also have your signature.

Please, if they want your business, they will swipe your card.

I work at a college bookstore and if the back is not signed, we are required to ask for ID. Every cashier I work with asks for that ID. No ID, then you must present another form of payment. I chuckle when people put SEE ID and they don't have their IDs, they usually say.. "well nobody ever asks anyway" I reply, "I do". No ID, no charge.

 

I have my card signed but I also have in big red marker, CHECK ID. If the cashier fails to ask, I ask to speak to the manager.

 

A college bookstore is very different than the rest of the commercial world. Consider the credit worthiness of your customer base.
