Someone besides me will have to be the one to find out, unless you all want to wait a week and a half. :P

My next experiment is Rutgers FCU (because I THINK I might still have a membership there) but I need to call them on Monday to find out. I vaguely remember signing up with them eons ago and then forgetting about them and thinking that they were merged into Affinity (which it seems they're not).

I just joined today got my account pending but didn't get a member number we will see what happens tomorrow when they open and see about a million apps in their que LOL

I am a ChexSystems guinea pig too, but the VERY WORST they could have on me are things from ~March (May?) 2007... the last time i got shot down was shortly after McDonalds employment at a bank in Columbus, Ohio in June 2009. I think ill be ok here. (And ive never contacted Chex at all.)

Im staring at the products screen... going to select Think Big Checking, and... For now, thats it.

Ill probably fund $100 or so from a credit card. I am on that screen now.

I am soo thankful for this info. Thank you!

i applied saturday night after reading this thread. if nothing else it seems like a solid place to plunk down $950 and get 4%. it was not a hard pull, and my status was immediately approved. i received both my savings acct#, and my think big checking acct#. i cant seem to create my online access yet and after speaking with someone on saturday night was still unable to. after speaking with a friendly rep this morning she said its manual within the bank and after whomever sets up the online access does their job we will receive an email with instructions. seems like an ok place and thus far i have no complaints.

for myself i used my AARP to do it which means not only will i be getting 4% on $950, but i also got 5% rewards so this was a quick and easy no brainer. i hope their credit cards are at least decent in the next month or so with generous limits. i'm going to look into the inova credit union now since i paid the trudirection $5 dues and might be able to get something more out of it. hopefully no HP over there either.

about a minute after i finished that i received my "person number" in an email welcoming me. that number also didn't seem to work in establishing online access, but at least i know my membership is official. i'm going to call again right now to confirm that my 'person number' is not the same as my member number.

another update: personal number is not member number.

customer service there is VERY friendly.

credit cards are on their way, the CU is waiting for that portfolio of services to be transferred to them.

business services right now are ONLY checking and savings, no credit products.

Some people might be interested in the fees...

Money Market Savings:

If under age 25 No monthly fee

Average daily balance greater than $100 No monthly fee

Money Market Savings plus other products No monthly fee

Maintenance fee if none of these conditions are met $5.00/month after first

120 days of membership

Basic Checking:

Direct deposit of net pay* No monthly fee

If under age 25 or 55 and older No monthly fee

If balances total more than $10,000 No monthly fee

(savings, checking and/or ELFCU loans)

Maintenance fee if no direct deposit $4.00/month

Dividends (rate) None

I'm interested to know if a $1 DD (or ACH push) would satisfy the exemption.

Hah - I wasn't "thinking big" enough... didn't scroll down to the ThinkBIg Checking fees. You are correct!

ThinkBIG™ Checking:

With eStatements No charge

Without eStatements $4.00/month

Average daily balance to receive dividends $50.00

Dividends (see rate card) Variable

Guess they are now on the official to-do list. :good:

Very funny...I called to check on the status of my application and the rep kind of laughed and said the girl that handles new accounts is going through them as fast as she can. Good job CB! :clapping:

Signed up over the weekend, all set-up as of this morning, but not really liking the website features at all:

1) when you logon from mainpage, a new window pops up

2) whenever you make a change, for example, change user id or password, etc, you dont get a confirmation email of the change.

3) when your on your logon page and you click "home" at the top of page, it takes you back to original website & now all of a sudden your logged out.

4) very unconventional hosting to say the least, almost makes me ? the legitimacy of this company.

Or maybe in just a Freak and dont know what im doing? (no comments nessessary here :)
