The guy who started that forum was a member here, first. He even asked Pam for advice on how to do things we do here. He's long gone, but they still copy everything we do. And yes, they hate us. :D

They copied Why Chat's HIPAA process, then distorted it, plus went around posting links to it on their site to attract more traffic, we asked them to please take it down. They had copied stuff word for word, and never a note about Why Chat or CB as the source of the info.

Not good netiquette.

Not only is it completely disrespectful, disgusting and outrageous, but it's blatant copyright infringement. Why not make them take it down?

Doubt it would qualify as copyright infringement since its posted on a public forum for public use, just bad etiquette by myfico. I think they might get more traffic over there but I have yet to find anything useful there that hadn't already been posted here first. I do see Ron is a respected member of both boards though smile.gif

My guess on the reason they are so strict is probably because the website is owned by Fair Issac Corp, and they have to be careful not to be seen as promoting the manipulation of credit reports and scores that are generated by their formulas, especially because they are the standard of the industry. I don't necessarily agree with their policy, but I can certainly understand it.

Exactly so. I'm actually surprised at the degree they allow discussions of things such as PFD and adding AUs. Arguably, these are purely manipulative of FICO scoring in most all cases. OTOH, adding secured cards to start off, disputing incorrectly reported baddies, etc. are pretty legitimate.

It's true, one of their broadest issues is simply conflict of interest.

I can't really figure out why PFD discussion is allowed either.

If anyone mentions disputing, they'll be met with a chorus of, "That's reporting correctly, you can't dispute it!" without knowing any of the details. That's great advice from the standpoint of one who wants to preserve the interest of the CRAs and their JDB customers, and treat consumers like mushrooms.

I love the old "I Think I Must Be A Mushroom" posters!

I'm no lawyer, but I thought the owners of CB own (rightfully) all the content on their website, and that it is not to be copied or used elsewhere?

Plagerism aside, when you google credit repair forums, this forum is the first hit returned, My fico is on the second page, where they will always be. Interesting to know that dude was a member here first. Sad part is this forum does not discriminate and actually has pinned topics citing the name of that forum. You can always tell who really has the best information by the things that they do.

Im not going to tear MF down, I just am grateful for CB instead. Im glad the owner of the board realizes that when people are in a situation of not being creditworthy, emotions sometimes come into play, and instead of punishing them for normal human emotions, even further hampering your chance of success, help point them in the direction of " what to do next ".

Besides CB has WhyChat, and I still am not sure how or why Whychat does what Whychat does, but may God bless that person immensely.

But they don't consider themselves credit repair but more so credit education.

I got some crap for mentioning that I DV'ed legit CAs. Legit or not, it's still in my rights.

Seriously. I only have so much time in my busy life. There is no room for MFers.

 +1 :good: :good:

As for usefulness, CB has a wider range of information and most likely reflects a greater mix of interests and backgrounds of posters. MyFICO has more info about FICO generations, scores, algorithms, and such.

You two-timer, you. :P

Haha yea I was pretty shocked being banned for providing a link to CB that has a list of credit unions majority can join. Here is the post http://ficoforums.my...1216891#M340345 you can see for yourself that mod fused cut out the link and said I was violating their terms.

Erm....Sorry. Now I have to ban you from here for linking to there. <_<

Yes, of course I'm kidding.

If I were looking for advice on organic gardening, I would not go to a Monsanto forum, lol. FICO knows who most of their revenues come from.

Try working for a major bank. FICO provides a whole manual of what we can do and not do when it comes to if it conflicts with their rules. Some of them are just plain crazy.

I too think this forum is one of the best ones. This reminds me of another forum that is for bankruptcy advice that I used to frequent. They have a "credit rebuilding" forum there and anybody who dares post anything about how to rebuild or how to get another credit card promptly gets bashed and barrated for wanting new credit after BK... I actually think they have the forum just so they can belittle people. Even if I PMd people links to this website, they outlawed the links in private messages.

I tried to talk some sense into them but they won't listen to me... I'm just a trouble maker who seems to want to end up right back where I came from cause I'm a total nincompoop with money and finances and just because I filed for bankruptcy means I'm incapable of having credit and using it... lol. And everyone should lead a cash only life and your credit will heal itself with time if you pay no attention to it whatsoever. :)

I only come here now. :)

Hah - I totally know the forum you are talking about. I lurked there for a few days but agree with what you said. There's some good BK info there (not really any better than what I later read here) but the community ruined it for me. Same with planet feedback.
