So I got curious and called to see if I was included in this first wave. After verifying name, social, present address,former address, blood type, children's name and shoe size they couldn't tell me anything because they can't 'see that system'. *sigh* just thought I'd share so if anyone harbors the same delusions I did about efficiency you can forget it

 

LOL because I was thinking of calling but thought it would be a waste of time. Thanks for saving me a phone call.

Well Rust is in Minn but I don't know if they will be mailing from there or if they have a distribution center somewhere else. Update us Minnie if you get yours....I won't know until I get home much later but I will update if I get it.

I received an overnight FedEx envelope on Saturday from from Wells Fargo and it contained a single letter apologizing for their mishandling of my foreclosure since I was in the military and covered under the SCRA. They said I would be receiving a check by certified mail in the next 4 weeks and I would need to sign for it. I don't want to get get too excited, but....

Yes! Thank you for your service....and we apologize for the dispicable way we treat those who defend our borders. It has long been my contention that anyone who places his/her life in harms way to defend my freedom deserves education, housing and medical care for life. No vet should ever suffer health issues or be homeless after serving....ever.

If anyone (mbl280!) is lucky enough to get real compensation, the tax man will want a piece of your pie. I can see it now, some mortgage fraud victims are going to get a big payment only to get creamed by the AMT.

Well we received our check today...a whopping $500, but its $500 more than I expected. Initially they approved us for loan mod and increased yes Increased our payment by $250 so needless to say we did not modify. In the last 2 years have been trying for another modification- I make too much apparently. Before I was not making enough which put us in the situation. Now I am making twice and can afford the payment if they would just modify it. I have no other debt so it would make sense. Sigh- oh well I'll just hang on until they make me move. In the meantime living rent free.

Got a check today for $600. Wasn't sure what to expect but I guess this is better than nothing. I filled out the paperwork for a separate lawsuit the certain state attorney generals have filed against some of the big banks a few months ago. Maybe I'll get something from that.

 

As far as taxes go, I thought that payouts from lawsuits didn't get taxed.?

She told me that she heard that they were sending them out in order of amount. That is complete speculation and rumor, though.

I think that makes sense but really..those who got the most had the most harm and shouldve been firsr IMO..

The highest I've read about so far is $6000.

The only thing I can think of is the really high amounts need more review and approvals up the ladder. That's what happens when we issue a large check.

Which makes it even that much more disturbing. That means that the "review" didnt do anything at all and those borrowers were not properly identified. The banks were allowed to slot the categories...therefore they were still performing their own reviews. This is awful for a whole variety of reasons...but this means that the banks could have very well under played who got what amount based upon what they felt they wanted to find in the files. If the OCC or Reserve was going to verify the correct assignment they could have just continued with the reviews to make sure the banks were being above board...
