Sorry guys all this credit research fried my hard drive, so I've been computer-less for a bit, but I'm back!

Finally all settled, After all their fees and nonsense they tacked on as foreclosure costs and my lawyer fees and nonsense I didn't come out quite at our numbers, but it was still a sweet little chunk of change to add to my down payment. Glad it's over. If I've learned nothing else from all of this, I will, definitely, going forward, KEEP every shred of documentation involved in legal/credit/healthcare transactions! I hope and pray I never find myself at the dark end of the tunnel again, but no matter how good our intentions, none of us can predict the future or what hand we will be dealt. If it does happen, I can guarantee you, I will never have to wonder when my DOFD was, I will never have to go to city hall to get copies of deeds or case documents. I am one organized broad these days! Heck even my files have files! Being prepared with all the paperwork definitely makes it easier should you need to go to battle and certainly gives you an advantage.

Not sure, maybe there already is one... but perhaps a "Get Organized" Pin with tips in the intro? Creditboards/Pinterest?

( but i don't understand why you would have had to pay ANY lawyer fees. how much interest did they pay on the surplus they owed you? )

so are we going to read about this in Forbes or did you have to sign a NDA??

The dates of that publication crack me up. The CFPB probably wrote that after reading my story. They've heard it :)

Still going on!

all the state AG;s and the CBPB gang up on OCWEN

Defendant shall provide $2 billion of relief to consumers who

meet the eligibility criteria in the forms and amounts described in Exhibit C, to remediate harms

allegedly caused by the alleged unlawful conduct of Defendant. Defendant shall receive credit

towards such obligation as described in Exhibit C.

I know this thread is pretty old but I'm hoping you're still around and you'd be able to help me as I was in a similar situation and also took it up with the credit bureaus but didn't get the exact result that I wanted. I'm hoping you could help me:

I live in California. I had a short sale right at the end of 2009. I had a 1st and 2nd through OneWest Bank. The short sale was approved. I got my all my documents including Substitution Of Trustee and Full Reconveyance for both the 1st and 2nd loans, short sale agreements, and even letters from OneWest Bank saying that the loans were paid in full for less than full balance due to short sale. It obviously hurt my credit but I was happy to start building my credit from that point on.

Move forward to late 2014. I was trying to get a car loan and my credit union says that a mortgage is showing up with negative inquiries. I find out that it's OCWEN reporting on the same loans I had cleared through short sale. I called OneWest and they confirmed they did business with them. OCWEN must've bought my loans from them. Now again, these loans were taken care of back in 2009, as I stated earlier, through the short sale. Nothing had appeared from 2009 til 2014 on my credit then BAM, it showed up out of nowhere and OCWEN was reporting bad credit on me. Long story short I called them as you did and they refused to remove it. I took my fight to the credit bureaus. I partially won. I say that because OCWEN on 1/2015 changed it to reflect it was closed but it still shows up as negative tradeline on my credit. I had nothing to do with OCWEN and instead wanted them COMPLETELY OFF my credit as is should correctly be, but the credit bureaus say only OCWEN can remove themselves. I thought that was complete BS considering everything I sent to show OCWEN was reporting on loans that were closed and deemed paid 5 years earlier.
I wanted to see what it was that finally got OCWEN to remove those tradelines from your credit as I hope I can duplicate that and get the same result. I'd really appreciate your help. Thank you.
P.S. Did you get the "purple monkey" name from a certain Simpson's episode?
