Please take a screenshot of what you're seeing.

 

The design is nice, soothing grays with some red accents. (instead of the dark blue with red accents.)

 

I am confused by "hard on the eyes" and other comments.

I think it might be the brightness of the white/light grays with the contrast of stark reds. Not really sure why but it does something to my eyes. I decided to dim my screen... a lot.

 

Also - I like the layout and tabs a lot.

It isn't white. But on mine, But I can only tell that because the text entry box is white, and I have comparison. The background looks kind of a pink/greyish offwhite... though the pinkish part might be because I have the red balance a little bit off.. But it looks very close to white. Both Chrome and FireFox browsers... Though the right side of does fade to a striped grey... It looks very nice though. Yes.

 

Also... The skin was designed by Evanescence?...

The background is definitely grey. I've been using this skin for almost a year, as have a few of the mods, and we aren't seeing anything that shows as white.

This is what it looks like to me. I do like it, but the "grey" background could possibly use being darkened just slightly.

Pam, what kind of monitor display do you have? I'm using a high res MBP display with LED and this sucker is super bright. I can also see the diagonal pin-striping in the grey area but that doesn't really bother me. It looks pretty cool.

 

ETA, here's a pic. You can't really capture brightness by posting here but maybe you can see the striping.

yeah i have the stripes too, just not when I'm replying. i forget about them, cause like I said, i've been using it for a while.

 

the quotes are multi-colored. Lightest gray, dark gray, medium gray. The lightest is very light. But it's not the overwhelming color of the page. I'd never look at the page and say "OMG it's so white!"

Is it just a power trip then? What's stopping the admin team from allowing the users to choose the theme they prefer? MANY forums around the 'net allow this. Doesn't mean you have to maintain them. You just keep adding until there's a healthy number of choices. I honestly can't wrap my mind around why an admin team would think it's not a good idea to give some theme options. Especially for those with less than stellar eyesight. I understand the forum is ran by admins and what they say goes, but not giving a theme choice just seems downright dumb.

This works if you don't have any customizations to the forum. Which.....guess what, you rude-flowers? This one does. So yeah.... Each skin that we offer? Has to be customized to work with our software modifications. And given that there have been 5 upgrades to this software over the past 14ish months, and oh- I have a full time job and go to school and have a family, and yeah. Keeping up with an unlimited number of skins (each of which have to be modified when there's an upgrade) doesn't rank high on my list of priorities.

 

I don't know who you are, but I'm gonna suggest that you mosey back on over to the credit forum and keep out of my path for the next few.... millenia. Cause my sense of helping the community and altruism ends at the point where you call me dumb.

 

Unless you want to stay here and spout some more chocolate that you have no idea about, cause chances are I'll be cranky as all get out in the morning and it could get interesting.

It's wayyyy too bright. Your version of "gray" is like 2 spots off from being white. So technically you are right, but it's still too bright. I 100% agree that it's a little crazy that this site doesn't seem to want to give people the option to change the theme from several options. EVERY forum site I've been a part of has given that option.

 

Also, all of the topics seem to show up as "opened envelopes", which I'm assuming usually means it's been read. The problem is that it's happening on topics that I haven't read yet.
