That's awesome lol, I suspect it's legit based on the Jpeg u provided.. Btw how did the navy issue turn out?

Sure looks like it. I'm quite excited!

The Navy thing is with the lawyers, and I can't say yet how its being worked out... but I've taken a very aggressive stance on the matter.

I do hope the OP keeps us posted. If a $500 store card really gets automatically upgraded to a $30,000 Visa, I suspect The Gap/GE may soon feel The CB Effect... laugh.gif

Once it shows up on your reports, maybe you can get Walmart to match them...

Seriously, I hope they let you keep it. If it really shows up on your reports I'd suggest asking for CLIs on your better CCs (not the store cards) before it disappears. Remember "higher limits beget higher limits"... :D It looks like a great opportunity.

Not sure a CB effect could quite happen in this case... I've had the card for months and upgrade showed up without my doing anything at all... so if they were gonna hand out lots of them, I think we'd have heard about it by now. I spose a bunch of CB'ers could all go apply for Gap store cards and we'll see if in a few months there's a flood of high dollar upgrades... ?

Awesome hope everything goes as planned! Btw do u check your reports daily? Jeff has taught me that almost all ge products report or update really fast, so be sure to check yours lol

I do check daily... so far nothing. Web site does say that the card has been mailed, so my guess is that I'll have it by Tuesday of this coming week.

If you actually get the card with that limit, I wouldn't use it. Activate it, buy something small, pay it off and sock drawer it. Don't call customer service or give any reason for an actual human to look at your account. Will be great for utility and getting higher limits from other creditors but you will probably lose a zero from that line if anyone at Gap notices.

that was my thought exactly. with that big a credit line, your average utilization will always be nil. good for getting higher limits on the others.

I'm sure its a mistake that if they catch will be rectified.

I was thinking that myself... better off not to draw any attention to it. I can't wait to get the card and see what happens... ha ha.

I've never heard of one, gotta say. But what's really unusual here is going from a $500 store card to a $30,000 Visa all at once. I knowwwwww I've never seen THAT. blink.gif

My GE Sam's Club was $40k before they slashed it to $25k

You know we don't include you when we're talking about normal circumstances that apply to the rest of us. laugh.gif

Ha ha.. yeah Bob!

So Sam's for $40k, Banana Republic for $20k and this Gap for $30k sounds less like a fluke and more like a very rare circumstance. Sound likes sometimes, for whatever reasons, sometimes they do go that high. Time will tell. Shoot, even Bob's slash to $25k is still good by the rest of our standards :) Its good to hear that GE does, sometimes, go that high. I feel less like its gonna get yanked away the minute someone lays eyes on it.

Yeah. I sort of remembered that, but don't recall what their reasoning was for the closure. I knew there had to be a reason why I've stayed away from applying with this lender. 50K limits on up or no deal

Well, the letter I got said they did that to all business accounts.

My personal suspicion is that it had something to do with the 7 new cards I opened the previous month. :P
