Good news all. I opened a checking and savings with Regions bank almost two months ago, and everything is still in good order. I know that I have been reported my chase and BOA to chexsystens. I can only assume thatt they reported me to EWS as well, since they both use it. BOA said I had account abuse. Whatever that means. I opened the account online and I funded it in the branch. Ive been told after thirty days, they usually wont close it. I hope that is true. We shall see.

Just an update, my regions account has been opened now for Five months, almost six. Even with BOA and wells Fargo reporting me, My account has not been closed. I think it is safe to say, that going on 6 months, they will not close me.

It sounds like you are definitely good :)

Just another update on my account after about 2 months of it being opened with Regions Bank. Things are still well, and I will likely sign up for direct deposit soon.

This is after me being reported this summer by Bank of America to both Chexsystems and EWS.

I was approved by Regions online on Saturday, I have a feeling I was reported to EWS by Bank of America for a little over $100.00......i haven't funded the account yet (going to on Thursday). Will they close my account??? I am scared but I need this checking account to pay bills.

If they approved you and the account is funded, you should be safe. Once the account has been opened over 30 days it seems to be the magic number

Okay my acct is still open, funded, and I have my debit card. Where do you reccomend ordering checks from? I really don't want to order Tom someone affiliated with ChexSystems.

I'm got a few Chexsystems entries and was approved for a checking account with Regions on 12/18/12. I called in to their 800 number and spoke to someone versus doing it online so hopefully it won't close later. She asked me if I had any outstanding debts to other banks. I told her BOA had reported me to Chexsystems for account abuse, but there was no balance owed. She stated that's all she needed to know and processed everything. I'm hoping that was it and the account won't turn around and close later. I'll update as to what happens!

my guess is that they will close the account but they have been approving some that are reported regardless of chexsystems, I am not sure about EWS

I have a couple of old entries in chexsystems as well and went with TCF since I know they dont check at the branches, but after reading this will definitely go for Regions soon.

TCF also uses EWS.. generally they care about the EWS reporting and less about the chexsystems

I opened a savings account at Regions about a month ago and forgot to fund it. Last night, I opened a savings and checking account there and funded each one with $50. I have terrible credit and a couple Chex entries, including one from BOA and one from Commerce. I'll come back and let you guys know if the account stays open.

Just applied for regions last week. Accounts are funded, and I got my debit cards. Going to put some additional money in them next week to cover any fees, and keeping my fingers crossed that they don't get closed. This account is a lifesaver should it stay open.

^^ That is how TABbank was for me in 2008.. It is hard to live properly without a checking account. it is.

I had opened an account at Bank of America about 2 months ago. Last month I had an issue with 3 checks that had no funds when I deposited them so they automatically closed my account. I didn't owe any money when they closed it but I'm guessing they sent me to that CHEX thing. In the beginning of March I opened a chase account and a regions. I was approved for both and I deposited the money to both accounts. Yesterday 3/15/13 my chase account was automatically closed w/o even letting me know and when I called them they told me it was this CHEX thing. My regions account is still open. I open it at the same time as my chase account. I actually have 2 checking accounts and a savings but I am seriously worried that my regions account will be closed too. Do Wells Fargo also send you to that CHEX thing too? I was with them for 3 yrs and left an outstanding balance recently.

You have to love these banks.. Closing a account with no notice.. Really how is that even legal? If you have all your money in that account what do you do for money? You need to wait for a check to show up so you can't eat or get gas or feed your kids!! They should be required to give notice. They have complete control over your account, there would be no reason for any one to over draft and go negative besides them allowing this to make money.

This thread doesnt have any updates in about 8 months so I will continue on so people can continue to gain info on Regions Bank.

I applied and appear to be approved for a checking account at the surface. I am so inspired by all the people who are saying that they are able to keep an account open. Bank of America absolutely RUINED my life. I run an athletic organization and we (by mistake) deposited a check via mobile deposit and via ATM twice in the same week and BofA closed both business accounts and two checking accounts down with zero notice and reported to CHEX and EWS as fraud. Absolutely rediculous for an accident. My relationship with Bank of America had been almost 3 years. As a result, I have been turned down for literally 15 attempts at accounts including second chance checking.

I will update this thread to help others in the same position I am.. all I want is an account and I plan to be VERY VERY careful with this account should Regions keep it open. <Crossing Fingers>

12/5/2013 - Opened eAccess Checking Account ONLINE and appear to be approved. Selected "FUND AT BRANCH". Will attempt to do this in the next 24 hours.

--- ACCOUNT CREATION UPDATE ---

12/5/2013 - Opened eAccess Checking Account ONLINE and appear to be approved. Selected "FUND AT BRANCH". Will attempt to do this in the next 24 hours.

12/6/2013 - Funded with $50.00 via drive thru. All went well. Mobile banking shows instant credit.

12/7/2013 - Received e-mail welcoming me and confirming OPTin of overdraft by bank option. I logged in an turned on text banking features to mobile phone number.

12/8/2013 - Account seems good, however, clicking certain options in online banking now show that an eligible account doesnt exist. Everything else looks good, but I am now concerned something might have put my account in a holding pattern until someone can visually look at it. I will attempt another small deposit tomorrow to see if anything goes wrong. Text banking reports balance back as does logging in.

Well, the short ride ended. Went to branch today and Regions back office had locked the account. They were not able to tell me if it was EWS or Chex, but the account was locked, sadly.

I know I got myself in this mess, but I need a checking account badly to live life and pay bills. Whenever I get this problem fixed, I will never mess up again.. Ugh. I guess I learned the hard way.

That's good news. I've been wary of Regions in the past, but maybe they've "softened" their policies.

Keep us posted with any updates.

2 YEAR ACCOUNT UPDATE

Regions has kept my checking account open for the past 2 years and I initially applied for their account already having been reported by BofA and some others to Chex and EWS. Regions seems to be relatively friendly to those with Checking issues who are looking for a personal account.

Dallasareaguy - Was this for a business account with Regions? I'm led to believe their business accounts are slightly different than the personal ones.
